Classic Blizzard, pretend to know better, get slapped on the face by reality. Again.

Anyway, the idea of subraces is stupid, when most of them could (should) have been just additional character creation options instead. The right way to go would have been to push for special customization of existing races, like prestige transformations. Kinda like the worgen, but for all races.

For example, dwarves get a stone form, humans get valk'kyr form, trolls get berserker form, draenei get broken form, blood elves get darkfallen form, etc. The rest would need to be new stuff with no connections to existing lore, but whatever. All of them would be customizable like, again, the worgen form.

Only the nightborne and the high elves would survive as their own distinct playable races (high elves being able to transform into void elves, like Alleria).

Worgen would then get to keep their extra human transformation, but their prestige transformations would be different from those of normal humans.

Then Blizzard can add more of these transformations with each expansion. Easy money, and you don't waste people's time with pointless alts.
