cheers to all,
yesterday i saw a guy with 125 fps in Warcraft 3 classic version-DOTA 1 with old patch 1.26a.I don't understand how is possible since this game is capped at 64-65fps max.
i tried all method to uncap fps in warcraft 3,but nothing worked for me.How that guy have 125/65 fps ?the version played was Warcraft 3 classic NOT reforged ,with oldest patch 1.26a
is there any trick to have 125 fps on patch 1.26a?
i tried to modify registry in windows:
1.run/regedit/Blizz Entertainment/Warcraft III/video/lockfb from 1 to 0
2.maxfps i set to 200
3.on the shortcut i set different command: "D:\games\Warcraft 3-Classic 1.26a\Frozen Throne.exe" -graphicsapi Direct3D9
"D:\games\Warcraft 3-Classic 1.26a\Frozen Throne.exe" -opengl
"D:\games\Warcraft 3-Classic 1.26a\Frozen Throne.exe" -nativefullscr
"D:\games\Warcraft 3-Classic 1.26a\Frozen Throne.exe"-graphicsapi Direct3D9 -windowmode fullscreen
I tried to turn v-sync to OFF in NVIDIA Control Panel-Manage 3D Settings-Global
Nothing work, the game stay at 64 fps.

so the question is: how can we have over 65 fps on oldest patch 1.26a?It's unbelievable how smooth was the game with 125fps in his broadcast.

If I'm not mistaken, the game engine is pretty much hardcoded in older versions that it only caps its FPS up to 60 (it's a D3D8).

The D3D11 used in Reforged builds can allow more than 65 FPS, even reaching as far as 300 FPS. It also depends on how the display's refresh rate you used.

Edit: There's a 3rd party tools like WFE that allows you to bypass 65 FPS limit. DOTA maps can go beyond 65 FPS. Thanks Enemy1PK.

trust me i saw in his broadcast, with 121 fps the game is much much better and fluid, and in heavy battle fps drop to 65fps from 121,and is matter a lot.And is much much much better.Because at 60 fps in heavy battle is OK,but when u start with 65 fps and u encounter 25-30 fps drop in heavy battle (late game) then is not OK believe me.that's why is much better to have more than 65 fps, because in late game and in heavy battle stay with more fps 60 vs 30.is not the same thing trust me.is not enough to start with 65 fps and during the game to encounter fps drop to 30....But if u start with 120 and during the game encounter fps drop to 60 is very OK !!!

I will share his stream to see how fluid is the game at 120 fps even in heavy battle, and this is very important

ps. WFE is a program registry or what? I don't know
thank you

In addition to the said FPS limit removal, this app has a good things like 8MB map limit removal, Widescreen Fix, customkeys, team color version of healthbars, etc.

Am I crazy? I was thinking that in the year 2018 on my desktop PC that I still had from the year 2009, at some point I launched an older version of Warcraft 3 from before Reforged and it was getting 240fps reported even though I use a 60fps monitor.

Maybe I am misremembering and what I played back then was actually some newer Patch 1.30 or 1.31 thing? It wasn't the Reforged client though.

This video is unavailable.
Btw, how can a game be smooth at 120 fps if streams can currently transmit a maximum of 60 fps?
If you need this pseudo fps, you can use WFE or Release FPS Unlocker v1.0.0.2 · UnryzeC/WC3_FPSUnlocker
thank you so much man.I started the game and i have 177fps,and now the feeling sensation is GORGEUS,all is so smooth now:D :D :D
I hope the client where i play not detect this file FPSunlocker.mix like a cheat or hack injection...i will see on my own.
big big big like from me.I hope u live 1000 years :D

I remember playing in 100Hz on a CRT monitor back in 2002.
How you can compare analogue CRT frequency to digital frame per second is the other question. :D

what times...I remember i played too this game back in 2003 on a 21 inch CRT monitor with 2048x1536 resolution with 85 HZ.the monitor was a Sony Trinitron :D
I remember that times when 21 inch flat Trinitron CRT was the best
Anyway this game Warcraft III will remain the best game from Blizzard. This game will be a LEGEND forever. This game will never die.
:D

I had a 17" Sony with only 1024x768 and for that time it was the best.

Well, I remembered playing this game back in 2012. I'm using an old Philips and Asus monitors, both 18 inch LED displays (not a CRT) with 1366x768 resolution.
Now, I'm using the Samsung monitor (24 inch/1920x1080) and yet I somehow managed to play this game smoothly on High settings.
:D :D :D :D :D

Playing games this old with uncapped FPS usually creates a lot more problems than it helps. It's like a poorly designed sports car: beautiful, fast, but prone to going out of control and crashing. I'm not saying not to do it if you can figure it out, I'm just warning you it might be very messy.

It's a bit like trying to get most older 4:3 games to run in higher resolutions. You're taking old software and forcing it to do things it wasn't made to. Sometimes it works fine, and sometimes it's a complete disaster. If playing a game stretched, letterboxed or in a window is an absolute deal-breaker for you, it's better to stick to games made after 2005.

You can put a supercharger on a Model T, but don't be surprised if you end up with a pile of burning scrap metal >_<

i prefer to play this game with uncapp FPS because i play DOTA with 9 players online, and in lategame where are lot of fight and spell,FPS dramatically dropped to 20-30 sometime and become unplaylable trust me.I prefer stable and fastest FPS for a better gameplay and gaming experience
yesterday i played DOTA and in lategame when all people complain about FPS drop,i was constantly 91-100 fps....big big big advantage for me.
now I'm playing with more pleasure. All is so smooth even in lategame. It can be 1000 units on the map,i don't encounter FPS drop anymore with this unlocker FPS.I love so much this program. And it's going surprisingly well with no crash and other error.God help
And DOTA have in config even widescreen support for this old game with this old patch 1.26a.I play DOTA with widescreen effect.
:)
p.s btw,i saw a weird thing. This game is working a bit better with openGL than DirectX 8.1,dont't know why.Is strange because this old game from 2003 was designed for DirectX 8.1 if i'm not wrong.

It's an API limitation if I'm not mistaken. Dr Super Good had even explained this long before.

D3D8/D3D9 have much lower limits than D3D11 in general terms. The game should perform better in D3D11 mode than D3D8/D3D9 on modern hardware and OS, but I don't know if it's a big mistake by Blizzard during the developments of Reforged.

I heard that using OpenGL renderer fixed performance issues for AMD GPU user (preferably Polaris), as well as reducing CPU utilisation. But yeah, it's still prone to random crash bugs.

The game worked fine for me on 1.26 patch with OpenGL on my 2019 system (i5 8400, GTX 1050 Ti, 8GB RAM), though I personally played 1.29 patch with D3D9.

Just to let you guys know, I got much better FPS on 1.26 by installing Creative Alchemy with the generic patch from PCGamingWiki which allows Creative Alchemy to run on any machine, even one without a Creative soundcard (which I think is all modern PCs) - WarCraft III 1.26 uses some sound API calls that are only available on Windows XP and Creative Alchemy makes those sound API calls work on Windows 7/10/11 as well. It even restores the option to switch to the EAX sound provider and hear the 3d sounds in WarCraft III the way you could back in the Windows XP days! For an even simpler option, you can use IndirectSound - 3D Audio in Older Games - easier to install and it still restores the sound API calls on Windows 7/10/11, but doesn't restore the EAX 3d sound. Your end goal with either software is to end with a dsound.dll file inside of you WarCraft III folder.

i found a solution
download fps unlocker from FPS Unlocker - WarCraft 3 / Моды - XGM
and put it inside root folder of Warcraft III or in the Redist\Miles\ root folder
that's it.
