Hive Workshop is proud to unveil the Project Page System!

January 2026 marks the launch of a new major feature on Hive Workshop: the Project Page system.
This is one of the biggest updates the site has had in a long time.

The Project Page system has been in development for over three years. From the beginning, the goal was to give creators a better place to show and manage their projects over time. Many projects on Hive Workshop take years to complete, and this system is built specifically for that. It gives authors one clear place to post updates, show progress, and keep discussion together.

Project Pages are different from normal resource uploads or forum threads. They are made for projects that are still in development. Each page acts as an overview of the project and grows along with it. This makes it easier for others to follow the project, give feedback, and understand what is going on without digging through multiple threads.

Most of our time went into building the Project Page itself and all the features around it. We know the index view looks really plain right now. That is on purpose. We plan to make it much more exciting later, highlighting active projects and adding all kinds of bells and whistles.

The long development time was deliberate. A lot of work went into getting the basics right before releasing it to everyone. The system has been tested and refined behind the scenes, using feedback and real examples, to make sure it fits naturally into Hive Workshop and can be expanded later.

With Project Pages now live, we have a solid foundation for future improvements. The system also makes it easier to discover and follow projects across the site. Users can start creating and browsing Project Pages right away, and more updates are planned. Click here!

Or look for the banner standard at the top menu - the Home for Projects.

This release continues the effort to modernize Hive Workshop while keeping its focus on creators and long term projects.

Ralle has made this video tutorial as an introduction to the Project Page system.

TRY IT OUT - FEEDBACK IS APPRECIATED

The Hive Workshop team encourages all users to try out the new Project Page system. Whether by creating a page for an existing project, starting something new, or simply browsing what others are building. As with any major feature launch, community feedback is essential.

Users are invited to share their thoughts, suggestions, and bug reports to help refine the system and guide future improvements. The Project Page system is intended to grow alongside the community, and early feedback will play a key role in shaping how it evolves.

Now is the perfect time to explore the new system, experiment with its features, and help make Project Pages a powerful new cornerstone of Hive Workshop.

One of the biggest aspects of this new feature that really appeals to me is its simplified, straightforward design. Everything is right there, no more clicking around hunting for sub-pages or jumping between different forums. The new UI puts all the essentials front and center, making it easy for users to find everything related to our project, from news and media to downloads and Patreon links.I’m genuinely looking forward to featuring CSW and CoC within this updated system. Huge shoutout to the HIVE founders for continuously improving the platform and making the experience better for both creators and users.

In there, the current site theme/texture I'm using is disabled. It might be because Projects would need modification of the other non-Reforged orc looking ones like the night elf I'm using?

EDIT: happens to this Warcraft 3 Re-Reforged | HIVE other pages seem to work on the night elf theme.

Also, once inside a project, the buttons (Community, Maps etc.) on top disappear.

That is no accident. We wanted you to feel like this is your project's page. Not Hive. So it's meant to look like a unique website.

About the style/theme, authors can force a specific theme to be used for their project page. Other themes will added eventually.

Right but since it's still part of HIVE, you might want to easily go to another page from the site rather than find the little Home on the top left or have Projects pages opened in separate tabs.

I think no matter how you slice it, this is an objectively improved way over a forum thread and likely over a hosted project slot.
I wont nitpick about that part.

..howver.

There is 0 filtering functionality, I wont say it makes it useless but it takes it down from a 10/10 to a 6/10.
Why am I seeing Warsmash if I am in the market of a map to play? (it's an example don't hurt me)
There is no data that indicate the quality of a project on the list view. Even flawed details like download count or views is a lot better than nothing.

Hosted Projects will get a special highlight in the index of the project page system later on. We are not getting rid of Map Development.
Ugh, I guess that's a part answer. I'm asking if Projects can be used as a means of Map Development because if yes, then both are overlapping.
Or, the idea of Projects is to be an interface to both in development and finished works?

Did you guys notice the banners under your avatar when you post (for people who have created a project page)? ;)

Also, did you notice that the downloads you have added to your project have a banner that leads to your project page? ;)

... And did you know that you can have multiple albums attached to a project page? They will each be placed under a category with the album title in the media page of your project.

Hasn't been cleared.
Also, someone else raised a pertinent question.
Because once I post the map in the MAPS section, there will be three places where my map is posted (Maps, Projects, and Project Development).

I'm trying to upload the preview image for my project, but it just redirects me to the project main page without saving (although it did save the style selection) and no error message. The image is a 24bit 590x590 png. I have javascript disabled in my browser with noscript in case that matters.

EDIT: same issue with the logo: "Form contains a file input, but is missing method=POST and enctype=multipart/form-data on the form. The file will not be sent." Didn't have any issue with the banner though.

Thanks for this work !
Then, sorry to be negative but I really dislike the visual layout of project pages...

I believe you should have kept the Hive title bar layout, just adapting it for the project :
  • Replace Hive logo with project logo
  • Adapt the large round icons to access the project items (instead of red rectangle buttons)
    • For example, "Community" allows access to forum (specific to the project), discord, and so on
    • "Maps" for downloads
    • "Gallery" for media
    • ...
  • At the end put a Hive logo to return to Hive homepage
Then, the only thing that repeat on all project pages should be the custom banner (standard height, not large).
The description, stats, image slider should not be on all pages, just on the project home page.

Image slider would look better with a large preview image + small thumbs slider.
Forum should be integrated (access the forum of the hosted project without exit from the "project pages").

That is my feedback !

Awesome, definitely one of the best features in terms of clean idea/map/community unification + overall great QoL tool for this page.

Feedback / Questions:

1. Is every piece of added media to a project bleeding into the "Gallery" tab of the entire Hive an intended design?

2. Currently, the "Followers" stat on a project's page is somewhat an elusive metric, does the number translate to the followers of the project itself, or the connected campaigns/maps/etc? + Are the followers supposed to be anonymous even for the project's admin, or is there a plan to make it possible to see which users are following the project? :pgrin:

I’m using Projects as the main hub for information about my project, almost like a Wiki. There are a few points I consider relevant to mention:

-When the project received a rating, I was not notified.

-When I received a new follow, I also did not get any notification.
The idea of a “follower” is interesting because I receive updates from the projects I follow, but is this metric intentionally anonymous for everyone, including the creator?

-My map is not yet being properly posted in the MAPS section due to polishing; once it is posted there, will the ratings be shared or crossed between both sections?

Overall, I’m really enjoying the system.

I think not since they will be different entities. The Downloads section can also include numerous things so which to get the rating from?

I feel users shouldn't use Projects to then link downloads on external sites. I've seen some do it. Hopefully, this would only be a temporary process that ends up in Maps eventually, otherwise...

Would be nice to have a sort of all encompassing view mode. See Hosted Projects for an example

Or something like in Media where you can see the logos images as links.

Funny enough i was actually gonna mention this because its kinda of useless to have these links and then have the actual projects tab also and im sure people will get lost and can not find the correct forum or map they want.. I do like how organized and small these link/tabs are though.

The list of projects is getting longer. Some projects might get buried eventually. Perhaps, if a project gets updated, it should get bumped to the top of the list. In addition, add an optional news update block that leads to new content below the description of each project in the front page listing.

I definitely think the topbar menu should return inside the projects.
It is a bit too convoluted to get into another part of Hive, be that forum or resource section. Not even the Site Index is there.
The top bar menu should be optional in projects as some peeps might actually like the isolation.

Can you please realize batch map uploading? You reject my project because I didn't download my pack of maps on the website. But there are 168 maps. And upload them manually is impossible, like update them.
Can you not simply link the thread in Maps you have as the main download thing/link?

I see that projects that already existed had their download and rating information exported to projects. I'm not sure about the reverse dynamic.
I posted my map in the maps section and managed to clear up the doubts I had.
After linking the map bundle to the project's downloads, the map reviews started showing up on the project page, but the project reviews didn't transfer to the map page.
The downloads from the map also counted toward the project.
Everything makes sense to me now.

Let's say I will create a project page and then, at some point, I'd like to announce that I'm looking for playtesters or people to join the team to develop a map.
Normally, I would post such an announcement at the Project Recruitment subforum, but since any project updates are no longer posted in the Map Development section but rather on a project page, I assume the same for recruitment posts.
Or should I cross-post both at the project page and Project Recruitment subforum? Is it even allowed?

Perhaps the solution here is to add an option (when writing a post for your project page) to also show the given entry in certain forum sections for better visibility/reach? 🤔
Or maybe add a new section in the projects' navigation bar like this, it should either link to the "Project Recruitment" subforum or some new kind of noticeboard:
