Hey any chance you are going to manage to vote on Techtree #10 Poll before it expires? I am really curious for whom would you vote since at least in my opinion I can trust your vote more than majority of voiceless voters.

I am quite honored by your implicit praise... However, (and I hate to disappoint) I'm afraid it's not likely I will get a chance to vote at all. Part of the reason I bowed out was due to time constraints, and testing 7 full races is just... *sigh*. I'm becoming an old man.
In fact, I'm not quite sure I'm going to be able to join a Contest like this going on into the future. Don't worry, I still plan on sticking around, offering advice & critique, trying to shape these Contests into the best they can be... And who knows, maybe I'll change my mind. But (as you'll see below) even when petulantly defying the norms & going for a mini-race, I failed not once but twice. It's just a boatload of work; work I'm not sure I want to go to waste.
Perhaps things in my life will lighten up in future years, and I'll have the energy & motivation to bring to bear something for these Contests. And heck, maybe instead of throw-away ideas I can finally give in & try working on a race I actually have planned (kinda have done that, but not quite, and definitely not with "Golems", lol). But I just keep seeing myself as really only having the time/motivation/energy/etc to finish the smallest of things; a few spells, a custom Hero maybe (still my favorite Contest).
It's not you, and it's not this message. I've been thinking about this for a while now. Sorry if that sounds depressive or whatever.

Also next contest I am going to be awarding Kyrib0 award to the players that manage to make proper 12 units. If that is ok with you.

As long as you spell it right. ;P I'd be honored.
Actually, I have to admit, you wouldn't know it but that's an incredibly ironic thing to do, because believe it or not, I've been planning on making half-/mini-races; not just for this Contest, but for the last one as well! There are several reasons; in part due to laziness (too much work), as well as perhaps a sense of stubborness/pride; I go on and on about how we need to define the Contest's constraints more, be more specific, be precise about what we want so the end products can be adequately compared to each other, and it doesn't seem anyone wants to listen; in a way, it's saying "Oh yeah? Well then you can go ahead & slave over a full-on race, I'll just pump out a quick mini-race, and you will see that it is unfair (or I will, because I'll be graded poorly in comparison)"
Of course, this was undermined by my failure to complete either Contest in time. xD
Along with those motivations, though, is the legitimate belief that the "mini-race" set-up is ideal for Contests. I've gone on & on about it before, I won't bore you here, but suffice it to say, while I think making full races is a wonderful & laudable goal (I plan on several myself), I'm unconvinced it has a place in a Contest (of this nature).
So yeah, funny. : )
