Stormhold assault

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
The Clam = Gamecrafter_DK

This map is a little thing i made while my internet connection was down... so i had to do something :D It's a 1-player mini-game, with the objective to assault "Stormhold" (not taken from anywhere, i just made it up) with your mountain king, and a small selection of soldiers, with the aid from the computer-controlled forces of Gehellion. You get a score based on the number of units killed, and the time taken. Your units will respawn.

This is Version 1.00.

It is not protected, since i believe it should be a free resource, so people might learn from it, even though it's very basic.

I've thought about making a multiplayer version, a defending stormhold version, and a hero-choose version, or a mix of them, what do you think?

It's not a campaign dude???

What?

and there's no victory/defeat, because they are annoying, if people want to write down their score, and can't find anything to write on

Annoying? Rofl! You should set Victory or Defeat conditions with message with their score. Victory/defeat conditions are necessary.

About the terrain, it's been said, by me. i don't think a map can get rejected because the maker isn't specialized as a terrainer.

Wrong. Terrain/enviroment is a huge part of map. You shouldn't call yourself a mapper then, if you're not specialized as terrainer as well.

To be honest, if you want user to keep their high score. You should have create a save/load system to keep the score in the map.

Victory/defeat condition is a must to have in a map. Unless you are making a map with infinite gameplay.

From what I seen in the scripting/triggering, this map should be rejected due to a repetitive trigger that contain memory leak. Everytime the trigger repeat, a leak would occur and sooner or later the map would have a lag even if this map was a single player map.

Just take a look at 1 of the memory leak trigger that are repetitive.

  • Knight
    • Events
      • Time - Every 15.00 seconds of game time
    • Conditions
    • Actions
      • Unit - Create 1 Knight for Player 2 (Blue) at (Center of Region 000 <gen>) facing (Center of Region 001 <gen>)
      • AI - Ignore (Last created unit)'s guard position

It depends, some map genre doesn't need a beautiful scenery such as maze map. Of course, a nice looking terrain would be a merit point.

well, by win/lose condition, do you then mean i have to make it say "defeat" or "victory"?

I don't think my triggers are all that bad, i mainly made this map for myself, and practice, and then to show at "V2" I uploaded it because i thought; "hey, maybe someone will get 10 minutes of fun out of it."

The terrain, i did it in 10 minutes... it's supposed to be a Very... contradictive, if i can use that word, entrance to a bigger city, where some architects have come out, and made tiles and such to make it look pretty, although very "malplaced" due to the rough environment. The terrain is gradually prettier, the further you come.

The triggers may leak, yes... i think i can do somethng about it. They are very small and very rough due to the time i've spent on the map. (about that lizard trap, i know, it lags like hell sometimes)

Now it's rejected... and well, for a map made in so little time, i think i've done an OK job, Too bad the hive don't want it... i might fix it... if i have the time, and the will.

EDit: i can't update it before next weekend, you gotta wait.
