zombie2279: Most of the things I said earlier still stand. I recommend you to zoom out a bit, so both the tags are visible in whole. It's not necessary, but it will surely help you achieve better looks. Now, in order to recieve my approval, I'd still like you to give it more details, you are free to use pictures for referrence.

Here's one that might give you a few tips:

Notice that there are some holes in it, shaded letters, and some scratches. I recommend at least adding the holes, and some more highlights on yours (in order to achieve a more metallish outlook).

Also note that I do not require you to use the pic given, I just wanted to demonstrate how you could add more details. The icon definitely has potential and you're close to approval.

Don't worry, he's just tough.

I see a lot of my earlier iconning style in you. Here are some hints...

-Make it sharp
-Add details (I recommend just like darkening the edges)
-Make it look metallic by making a little white X. Then take a larger brush and color over that with white and a small opagueness. This should give it a metallic look.

He was just giving suggestions, like he's supposed to do as a moderator. Try looking up a photograph of real dog tags and check the difference between that and your icon. Then you might see how you can make it look more realistic.
I know it's not fun to get feedback that tells you it can be done better, but it's all to improve your skills. It's a general fact: If you want to become good at making some recourse, you'll just have to make good use of the suggestions and keep going. If you do, you'll be surprised of how fast you can get better at it.

We all know. Every single person on the Hive started somewhere with whatever they are doing now, and there's no chance any of them didn't start with something that was of low quality. But the people that made use of the comments on their resources are still here and are making more and more progress.
zombie2279 is ofcourse no exception. He started somewhere as well, which was without a doubt lacking quality. But also he got comments from people (either here or elsewhere), he continued to try to improve and now he's quite skilled in his department and made it to the position of icon moderator. Ofcourse this doesn't mean, you should focus on becoming an icon moderator, but it's just to show that everyone (including myself ofcourse) started with something that we might not think was that bad back then, but if we look at it later when we're better at whatever we're doing, we also see our first work was quite a mess.

So all with all, I'm again trying to say: Don't give up, use the comments given to improve yourself and I have no doubt that you will become better in time. Keep the first version of this icon. Take a look at it again when you're more skilled and notice how much you've improved!
