Brann Bronzebeard

Custom skin I made for TurieL's amazing BrahnnBronzebeard model for my WC3SC1 (Warcraft3-Starcraft1 crossover) meme-campaign thing. Thought it'd be nice to share.

Using the base skin as a reference, I reworked its clothes and gear, giving them the darker color tones and more damaged, worn-out look I needed.

I haven't been able to fix the black eyelids though (not sure where they're placed). Any suggestions or ideas would be welcome.

Just like in TurieL's original work, the texture path is: Textures\BrahnBronzebeard.blp

Edits:
07/17/2023 - Added shining to the leather surfaces as per Shido's recommendation, plus other parts of the skin as well.

I wasn't expecting a texture for this model to pop up in the skins section so I'm pleasantly surprised to see this here, let's dive in: The Good: The first thing that stood out to me was the face and hair. It looks exactly like something Blizzard...

Not bad, I compare to the original texture which is.... a bit subpar at that time but i see noticable free-hand and better shading. I like the potion or bottle and the rope texture. The clothing is an improvement over original but especially the face which is madlad quality that closer to blizzy artstyle. Let's not forget the bag here, which is your main focus in this model.

My only problem is the pants, maybe a bit more lighting since leathers are not that dull.

Conclusion: Pretty good revival to Turiel's DC work and attention to detail is welcoming. I give you a nice 4,5 4,7* rounding 5* in rating. Honestly, I don't have problem recommend for HQ quality because that is one hell of revival from ZethHolyBlade himself. Also welcome back, lad.

I will expect to see more of your development and maybe don't leave your swordman in the dust.

Edit: Pants changed but not really there yet, a bonus 0,2+ in rating.

Hey there, thank you for your critique. I added light to the leathers and it kinda opened a can'o worms since I needed to maintain the skin's continuity across the edges. I'll further work on it and the pants later. Tbh though I saw the latter more as being made of regular cloth fabrics or jeans than a biker's leather.

About the other skin 😆 we'll see. He too deserves some luv I guess.

I wasn't expecting a texture for this model to pop up in the skins section so I'm pleasantly surprised to see this here, let's dive in:

The Good:
The first thing that stood out to me was the face and hair. It looks exactly like something Blizzard would have drawn, the shading and well defined square-ish lines really contribute to the look. Bold shading and highlights add to the iconic style, the head would easily fit in besides the likes of the Paladin or Mountain King's textures.
The Team-Colour is always appreciated and looks good.
Another thing I love is the sheer number of small details included, so many little things to notice and appreciate. The purple rejuvenation potion, the tiny Ironforge emblem on the backpack, and another emblem imprint on the lantern glass. All these add up to improve the quality of the skin.
In terms of the clothing we have lots of material work here, the hat looks like stressed leather and the leather of the armour on the shoulders etc also has its own different texture to that of the hat. The trousers look good, with some good fabric work on the folds.
The rope looks incredible, it's not a major part of the texture but it looks really good with the perfect amount of shading on the strands and also the larger shading on the bits closer to the bottom.
I also see you've got some good metal work on the axe head with some notches on the section attached to the handle as well as some nice colour variation from the edge to the body of the metal.

Areas for Improvement:
This skin is very impressive, but there are a couple of things I think could be improved.
When compared to the head and other parts, there are parts of this texture that seem quite "fuzzy". In particular the buckles, the leather on the hat and body and the metal of the gun. These parts aren't bad but I think they could benefit from some stronger edges and shading just to make each part more defined. The backpack, body and gun make up large sections of the texture which means that it would greatly improve the overall look of the texture.
I'm also not sure that some of the material texture hasn't been created using a filter of some kind, in which case it's not really free-hand.

Conclusion:
A great texture and an improvement other the original in tons of ways. I was unsure of what rating to award and did dither between HQ and recommended but in the end I think the "fuzziness" holds it back and I'm not sure that large sections haven't been made using a material filter of some kind. However it is a great texture and easily approved as recommended!

Whoops, took me a while that this skin filesize is too big even with 512 standard. I don't think we will ever get an award middle HQ and Recommended because well these gaps already close to each other.

Still Zeth, Get that swordman back alive.

I don't think there needs to be an award between HQ and recommended, the set-up works pretty well as it is.

This texture could definitely be HQ with some adjustments and I did spend a while mulling over to make sure the rating was appropriate for the quality of the texture. I do hope Zeth contributes more textures in the future as their skill development is very visible.
