Hey so last year I've spent months creating a custom map.
It had a lot of content, because it basically turned warcraft III into a city builder. It had a lot of custom models and all, but when I see a map like Dark ages of warcraft weights only 3 MB, I'm questionning why my map literally weights 135 MB like it's literally huge! I simply don't get it.

Peace out,

if you have clues or tips i'd be really greateful...

I fail to see what you are confused about. Great majority of map's file size comes from all imported files. You wrote yourself:

If you have tons of models, textures, icons and whatnot, is it really surprising that your map's size is 135MB? This is a list of resources that Dark Ages of Warcraft references: Resources in use by Dark Ages of Warcraft V. 2.1
You can see there are few models that take few hundreds of KB and good part just takes tens of KB. Also note that there is not a lot of imports.

You are also comparing a map from 2011 - at that point of time map file size was restricted as far as I know, so a lot of custom models were in various crafty ways reusing textures from default WC3 models to save file size.

If, on top of that, your map is using Reforged HD models then those will unsurprisingly have way bigger size than classic SD models.

If you are concerned with file size, open the Import Manager and check file size of your models. Find those that take too much space, remove them and try to find some alternative models that take less space.
