Joined the hive, found this thread, got interested about it, found out that 'Wc3 modding' means 'Ponies' and hope I could find a more relevant site.

My personal life is not to be disclosed, as it contains 'classified information'.

Reported many 'forums' to google because of their lack of on-topicness, like that advertising 'perfect world' site.

yeah, from now on, let's pretend to be something cool and not ourselves, let's be hypocrites, that would attract more users that might be a pain in the ass with their srs bsns behavior.
That guy came here, didn't like us, he left. that's life.
Ponies is actually a test to figure out people around here (hypocrites or not)

I'm willing to bet that a majority of the active community here hasn't touched WC3 in months if not years. Most of us are still here because we have friends here.

And friendship is magic!

I must agree on everything but the magic part. Many people are leaving hiveworkshop because SCII has comed. That is a huge problem and those of us that still are on the hive is either here because they have friends here or because they like the website or because we still like warcraft III more then SCII.

I am still actively working on a Warcraft 3 mod with Linaze and Mr.Goblin.
Do I have to bring you proof that this is a Warcraft 3 site?
Also, define 'majority'? Only the old-school or 'oldfag' people. The TRUE majority, that is, the Hordes of Noobs, are still modding WC3 as evident by our map section and Map Development forums.

No way you get rid of me that easy. I like Wc3 and the Hive (poines suck) and I'm annoying as much as kidney stones.

I'm back on the Hive because the Hive is something like where I grew up (and why am I banned from the chat?) and SCII sucks when you are forced to have internet to use Galaxy Editor.
I'm a Hive member because I see meself as such, I think liek one, chat liek one, argue and have fun like one.
And WTF FTW! Down with teh ponies and Pyrite's insanity!
P.S. Half the staff hated me once, so nothing new if it happens again.

EDIT: and Debode, WTF's going on here? What happened in the last 6 months?

I'm too lazy to go on SC2Mapster and create an account there...
Oh I'm still not done with WC3... it's potential is not fully wasted... and I'm still playing Starcraft 2... just not this month, currently I'm playing the WoW... but after the free month will end I won't be considering paying more... so then I'll return to mapping, terraining and just playing.

Fixed. That's what I really meant... though, if SC2mapster is pony free, I may consider changing my statement again...
Of course I have friends here, and Daily Peon group... plus we still have lots of people making great projects that SC2 won't see soon... you shouldn't realy worry now...

We should advertise cooperation between SC2 and WC3 modders. If we attract both groups, we're pwnin teh others!
But yeah, less pony, moar l33t

A video game site with custom avatars?
I highly doubt it

Well we have a sc2 section up, but the problem is the lack of resources, especially since there aren't art tools for sc2 for proper conversion yet, so most modelers won't move on until blizzard releases that. Icons in general often correspond to models, so that explains that lack of resources - and sc2 has it's own mapping system so there's definitely going to be less maps posted. Really with the current resources available the best you can do is make like mod packs (basically like the equivalents of spells and custom units, so on and so forth all packed into a single resource) - but people are too busy making their own maps to do smaller mods.

Also note the new learning curve to use the Galaxy editor, since this time around you actually need to know what you're doing to make something most people making maps are actual competent enough to make their own spells and units, etc. etc. Thus there's less demand for them, so here's sort of how I see it playing out:

-Over time we'll accumulate tutorials - this will help raise general ability in the GE
-Blizzard will release art tools, allowing modelers to finally take advantage (at least easily) of the new engine
-With the new models, people will be inspired to start making creative resources and uploading them here (like mods)
-Now with sufficient resources, modding will start to pick up in sc2 here since there's plenty of resources for the people who don't know what they're doing so well to get started with.

If you want to help and you have sc2, you could start making the types of things you can currently to aide in that department (like mods, icons and tutorials).

The Hive was perfectly fine before Pyritie introduced you all to 'My Little Pony'.

Ganon's emoticons got on EquestriaDaily, the article included a link to the site
That's free advertising to reach a fairly large audience

I don't like WC3 more, I go and solo-mod maps for SC2. (I'm studying how to trigger perfectly triggers. Creating a own working unit with the data editor is easy for me. )
But I spend my fun-time on Black Prophecy (Sci-Fci rocks!)
I tried a simple trigger which turn the normal Protoss textures to Dark Protoss textures (yes, I mean the Protoss enemies from This )

I PLAY MATURE GAMES FOR MATURE GAMERS LIKE MYSELF

Funny how we finally got him to watch an episode and he ended up hating it

And who said I can't just make a pony thread on SC2Mapster? :D

On second thought, maybe I should do that right now

Actually /co/ is where this whole thing started

it's got a pretty big following on /b/ too

Yeah I know that's the origin, and it's got some of them pretty pissed over it, hence the many attacks upon the threads and the following moderation storm of bans and complains. And it's not like the people who "contribute" to ED are ones to like them anyway.

This isn't a part of the Hive's culture, let alone an integral one some *coughcough* force it to be. This is not what the Hive is, adopting something alien and /b/ed. Our culture was for a long time only our own, l33t n pwnin and such. This pony influence (yes I watched the episode 4 and no it is not cool or that fun or l33t or whatever) is the cancer that's befallen on the Hive </drama>
I call for a resistance!

Dude, I've been here for three more years than you have and I can tell you with 100% confidence that the hive has never had a "l33t" period.

The closest we had was the "narotu sp3lpax" but that was all done ironically.

I didn't say "l33t period", I wanted to imply that the Hive once used the following in high amounts:

  • Teh
  • lol
  • WTF
  • OMG
  • Dude
  • U
  • im
  • liek
  • haxor
  • "z" instead of word-final "s"
  • were
  • leet
  • 1337
  • Orly

Ponies introduced proper spelling.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but are you stating that this pony stuff is evil because it introduced proper spelling to the Hive?

It's not so fun anymore (and there's less avatar variety. What a shame)

Oh and I watched episode 4 for real this time. The ponies aren't that evil (certainly beats barbie, bleach and half the other anime) but I'm still resisting.

Meh.
Ponies were cool when it was like 3 people watching them with pony avatars, but nowadays every thread has a pony-fan, which just... Sucks. It's scary. I mean, I just wish this period will end faster already. We can't do anything to speed up the progress.
I mean, maybe they will get bored of it. Maybe the show will get canceled. Maybe... I don't know. But something WILL happen, and hopefully that will change the Hive to what it was once again.

Trust me, best you can do is spam them with ponies (kill them with their guns) and eventually you'll scare some off (you might even get reported unfortunately).
