[SD/Modeling] WC3C lost resources

I know that the WC3C site is now resting in peace. I see that many people are mourning the loss of the excellent resources that were once there. I hope that one day Ralle can resurrect all of that material. But until that happens, I’ve found a Russian pirate site, wc3-maps.ru, which has been stealing information from various resources, including WC3C, up until 2021. The site is still alive, but I can see that activity there is pretty low, so one day this pirate archive might disappear too. It's ironic, of course, that in this case, pirated content could help us recover valuable information.

If anyone has the will and desire, it would be awesome to back up all that content—like models, icons, systems, etc.—and reupload the lost information from WC3C to Hive. I think we should preserve the legacy of Warcraft 3 creativity as much as possible.

The main difficulty is that the site is in Russian, including the names of the models. Also, the number of graphic files is overwhelming.

It’s just my suggestion, because I’m really sorrow about WC3C lost and it was really hard to find valuable information from the remnants of that legacy

I would expect that @Kyrbi0 has some sort of radar about where old wc3c models yet live in the modern era.

Many, but not all, of those guys are still around in the wc3c discord.

Discord has been a plague on every modding community due to egos, i tells this from skyrim experience

Okay then ignore the very real opportunity to directly ask many of these resource authors if they have backups of stuff that has been lost. Why do you think I suggested it?

Sorta yeah, but honestly I'm kinda out of the loop. Other than my own HDD, it's probably folks like @stein123 that have a better radar than me.

It's got pros & cons, but it definitely can make it less appealing to post on forums, I've found.

However, in some cases Discord has been a godsend; some forums lose their website & would otherwise be lost, and sometimes it can be quite useful to have a more immediate sense of 'conversation' about a topic, rather than the halting pace of forums.
