It holds up better than almost any other game from its time. Blizzard has a knack for that.
I would not say that...

Tons of console games have held equally as well as the base WC3 did. Infact the only reason WC3 is still played as much as it is due to all the custom material people have made for it. One could argue you are not playing true WC3, but something else.

This again returns to the point... Why are you wanting a WC3 remake when there is SC2?

If blizzard would have released a second expansion before shifting to WoW then WC3 could have been a ton better. Imagine basic realsitc shadows in WC3, or more flexible lightning or even just a better jass engine.

You were only talking about graphics, and so was I... apologies if that wasn't clear.

Because some people prefer wc3?! I'd much rather play the wc3 campaign over SC2, even now.

Because some people prefers fantasy games over Sci-fi (ME!!~ Although i still play Wc3.)

Also, DSG is correct. People play this because of all the custom material we all created. The graphics aint' rubbish, but it should be fixed.
Also, if Blizzard officially supports World Editor, it would mean better maps and more importantly keep this game alive.

On second thought, any one thinking that Blizzard should take the Sc2 Engine, tweak into Wc3? Then create converters, to convert old maps models etc to the current format. And than remove LAN....
Oh, wait. Don't remove LAN. DON'T!!~

removing lan connection capability for a game basicaly ruins the game especialy if it is a game where there can be a small amount of playing at once as if you did you would have to play against someone that could be in you house over the internet wich is much slower......
Also Ignitedstar Wc3 isn't a normal game like any other if you have relised...

People, do you realise that quite a lot of people who play WC3 have outdated computers that won't run the modern level graphics, so making WC3 remake with modern graphics wouldn't be profitable to please the WC3 community, and making small adjustments... you know, they could do that even in a patch if they would have mood for it. But they kinda like have more immportant and more profitable games to work on.

Also, some people here want an editor which would be as functional as SC2 one, but as simple as WC3. Now that's something I doubt well ever see - when making or editor, you always have to sacriface or functionality, or simplicity, so or it will be less functional than Starcraft 2's (Which will mean more advanced modders will prefer SC2), or as complicated or eeven more complicated than SC2 one. And how do you imagine as functional and much simplier than SC2's? I mean, of course it could be more suer friendly with some interface changes and some tooltips/info added to editor that would help find out what does what - but that can be done with patches, you know. During SC2 beta they already immproved the eidtor.

That's a fairly large assumption on multiple parts. First you assume all people that play wc3 have old computers (I doubt you have any idea at all, not that I pretend to either), and second that only people who still play wc3 would buy wc4.

All that writing, and your point is.... ?! I can't seem to find it.

I say it should have All functions of jass but instead of needing the code it is just there for you and you can just select like triggers, a explaination of the triggers, new models, better graphics, better tools for maps, and a modelling tool that is easier than GMax, Milkshape, ect. Of course from the way blizzard is this most likely will never be made. So sure its fun to post here and talk and all but in Blizzard's eyes this is mostly a pointless little talk.

I don't think an easier modeling tool to use than Gmax etc will be possible, as they were never a part of the editor... Also, making a program which will have the same power as 3ds for example while simplifying it would be really hard to do... Also that will allow you to do everything by yourself, which is a bad thing as it promotes introversion... You can't have it all... haha...

True, I've never seen a game (Except for few older FPS ones) that would have a built in model editor of it... Spore doesn't count - those are not models, just some data that allows to combine some entinities like body parts of whatever into some in-game object.

The only thing I would want blizz to fix up in Wc3 is:

-Allow 2-3x the amount of polys on models (I like making detailed models =P)
-Allow the maps to go beyond the 480x480 size in Jassnewgen
-Add more stuff to GUI

Thats about it, only three things but they would improve the game for me.

Milkshape, Its easy to learn and use.

Can't we all just agree that if we sacrifice enough goats to the dark god cthulhu we might eventually (not) get an updated editor for Wc3?

Here is the deal: So many war3ers moved to sc2 even mapmakers. Those don't long for a new game when they can do what they want on it, sc2, so Blizzard don't care much about what is left here to still want to make war3 things and so does it seem so far.

Also they said esports is their top priority and I am glad of this sentence of theirs, but with a sc2 maps market im sure they don't look back to war3 even for mapmaking. WoW, SC2, D3 are new generation games with new bnet and Blizzard will be following this 'new generation' mostly... Get over it already.

It's a bit early to talk about a Warcraft 3 remake. I mean, we don't even have a Warcraft 1 remake, yet. >_>

Hold on a minute, I clearly remember the Warcraft1 campaign remaked into Warcraft 3! I know as I played it. It's made by the user LordPerenoldeII here on THW. Contact him for more info about it I guess.
