Warcraft: A New Dawn

this project looks interesting.
I might join some Galaxy Editor team after I'm done coding my sound library (OpenAL library), and as stated above, this looks interesting. But from looking at the open position, I didn't see any on the trigger editor and scripting, are those positions all full?
 
Your ability. A sample map for e.g. (full of triggers/systems you've made) As it has proven to be a rather interesting project a fair few people apply who are simply not expierienced enough to do what we ask of them, within the time given.

We would also require that you are fairly active.

I do not have any Galaxy Editor work to show, because I've only just messed around with it enough to make waves of creeps attacking in specific times, and then tried the scripting to see if I liked it and if it actually was like C, other than that I've been in a WC3 map making clan. So yeah I don't have any such stuff to show, I was just checking if the position was open, because I'm planning on checking the editor out very soon, after I'm done with my OpenAL wrapper.
The only reason I'm interested in the Galaxy Editor is the scripting, because I've worked with C++ for a few years, and the C way is the one I feel most comfortable with :P
 
Avalon is the name of a island in the Arthurian Mythology. I think there are some allusions to the Arthurian Mythology in WC1 and WC2. For example, the name of King Arthur's father was Uther Pendragon.
About the character I've been thinking about for the remmnants:

-Tandred Proudmoore Lord Admiral (not Grand Admiral) of Kul Tiras, the island nation that still stands against the forsaken thanks to their naval superiority. Kul Tiras is located south of the forsaken territory and north of Stormwind, and they use their fleet to keep the forsaken from advancing massively against the refugees that scaped to Stormwind and Ironforge. He's one of the leaders of the remmnants of the Alliance.
Maybe he could be a hero ship and his skills would be focused to sea fighting.

-Finnall Goldensword, a warrior hero adept at both spell-casting and light fighting. She leads a increasing group of guerrilla fighters through the scourge territory and have become a trouble for Kel'Thuzhad lately. She has her base at Silverpine Forest, a region under control of the forsaken. Even through the forsaken soldiers have orders to kill Finnall's group if discovered, Sylvannas have never sent anyone to search for their camp due to their efectiveness in intercepting the scourge supply convoys to the frontlines.
Finnal would be a character controlable by the player. Depending on the skill selection, she can be a versatile spell caster or a stealthy agile hero.

-Calia Menethil, the older sister of Arthas. If the children of Arthas and Jaina are both girls, then Calia would be the current heir of the House of Menethil. She's an important figure for the refugees from Lordaeron and one of the few lights of hope in these dark times. As long as she's alive, so is the regent house of Lordaeron, and if she were to die, Lordaeron would fall, not only physichally but also symbolycally.
She's one of the leaders of the Remmnants of the Alliance. She has practically no combat skills, but she's currently learning the ways of the light from the priests so she can help the wounded soldiers and refugees as a priestess. She has supportive and healing spells, and maybe some anti-undead attack spell like Holy Light (a classic).

-Ballador the Bright, one of the few paladins of the silver hand. He failed to protect king Terenas' Urn but survived, and since then he risks his life in every battle without need. He leads a group of warriors that make risky missions into forsaken territory for the remmnants.

-Magni Bronzebeard, current king of Ironforge and one of the leaders of the remmnants. Since Ironforge is farther than Kul Tiras from the frontier with the forsaken territories, Magni never shows up in the battlefield, but his dwarven gryphon riders and soldiers and their artillery units are the main attacking force of the remmnants.

did you make any of these up? does arthas have any other siblings? are any of these introduced in WoW?

the remeants are only human. i am fine with some kul-tiras reinforcments in the remeantat army, but no dwarves. aside form the ones that like in tharamore, all the dwarves are holing up in ironforge.

also, were not worknig on abilites yet. but I'll ask grey to archive that asap. Sounds good.

But, we will discuss wherther to have kul'tiras in the first place.
 
Well, ther're (in WC3 lore, no need for WoW) elves that choose not to follow Kael'Thas. I think at least these few elves would be part of the remmnants. Also, Finnall is Half-Elf and a great part of her followers are also Half-Elves (since elves don't like half-humans and humans don't trust the heritage of a half-elf, she would lead a group of pariahs, ex-criminals, etc...).
About Dwarves and Gnomes, after the fall of the human and elven kingdoms they could have recluded themselves in their kingdom, taking the end of the alliance as a fact. Maybe they could be an allied NPC faction in some missions.
About Kul Tiras, if there's a nation that could have survived against both the scourge and the forsaken, it's Kul Tiras. Kul Tiras command ships the same way that other nations command knights, archers and footmen, since they've no space in their island that could act as a great battlefield. If the enemy would be to pass trough Kul Tiras naval defenses, the cities would be involved in any battle following, so they would lose their entire fleet rather than allowing the enemy cross the sea. Kul Tiras was the most prosperous merchant nation of the world in WC2, wich allowed them to build rapidly a fleet of warships. Since the forsaken and the scourge finished the third war with nearly no naval forces, it would be very hard for them to break through the naval defense of Kul Tiras. Kul Tiras would be the equivalent to the UK in WW2.

Also, the characters are all from WC1, 2 and 3 lore. Maybe Tandred will be included in the upcoming expansion of WoW, but it's not even sure.
Making up characters is good, but don't forget the WC lore, it's a mine of potential main characters.
 
Thark, were not doing that kind of lore until the campaign.

Also, its been decided that the remenants will only be a CAMPAIGN RACE and not featured in melee (unless we add them in an expansion.)

Furthermore, about these chars, we will see, i'd also lke to see your sources for myself, so that i can do a little digging and decide who is where and whatnot.

Dwarves and Gnomes are very recluded yes.

Theramore will have a farl median gnome and dwarf population. enough for some dwarven and some gnommish troops.

For your argument, as far as we know, the scourge could have no navy, or a great one. :\ There were no navies featured, but the scourge don't NEED a navy, as they could bomb kul'tirian cities with plauge.

I've been thinking about this, and i think all that remains of kul'tiras is a powerful fleet. they could be partnered with the Remenants. Kul'Tiras Pirate nation... one important aspect is that all humans want out of loaderon, so the escscape for the remeant people to the kul'tirian navy could be somthing important as a campiagn deal. otherwise its primarily the forsaken and the scourge battling it out. for control.

As for classic human/orc conflict somthing has to be done concerning colonies on kalimdor's shores, maybe orc popluar anger. (patrols sent for peace acually looted a village) ect.

I would assume the sourge would try and spread new versions of the plauge to theramore, so we will again assume that her magicians have created a magical vaccine.

Theramore would most likey not go back to loaderon and such, so obviously combat has to be brought to either the seas or the shores of theramore isle.

Also somthing to do ith jaina's children should be involved in some deal to shake up the power structure in theramore of some non-conflict intrige.

It would be quite original to have something like multiple endings and alternate missions etc. you could follow. For example you could make a character kill off or not kill off another charachter, without that charachter the story will continue different than it would if you'd kill her offcourse.
 
Sorry, when I start writing I start to have ideas and I tend to extend myself aimlessly, I'll try to avoid that. About my sources are WoWwiki, if you click on each of the character's name it redirects you there.
About the orc/human conflict, both Thrall and Jaina would have groups of people that are against the peace between the horde and the alliance. There could be an attempt of a coup d'etat at Theramore and a dissenssion of some groups of orcs in Durotar. There are people in both sides that fought the first and the second war, and that's too much hatred to forget easily.

Seems okay, but don't make it a role too big in the campaign, imo. It's so cliche.

Ask TWIF, I think they've already the entire demon techtree. About the buildings, one of them would be a dimensional rift. About the other only building... I don't know what it can be ><...

Why can't the story take place over several years? Besides, the campaign for Wc4 isn't going to take place RIGHT AFTER the end of Wc3 campaign. There will be a little (idk maybe a couple of months) time in between to allow us to set up the setting.

There are many people named after places. And her being named after a place of "paradise" isn't as much of a coincidence as you may think. :eekani: I won't say more to avoid leaking surprises.

I really like this idea, but it's a tricky business and very hard to successfully pull off. For one, Warcraft follows a definitive story line, and it doesn't really 'fit' to have alternate endings, mainly because it is hard to do expansions when you have several different endings that drastically change how the story would unfold. Perhaps, we could create several less important alternate paths to take that affect the journey, but not the ending. It's something we'll discuss and look into.

Aww I think adding a Dwarf section to the remnant campaign would be good. It adds diversity and can EASILY be a contributing addition to the story line. The dwarves and gnomes are going to have as much difficulty fighting the scourge as the humans, and they were part of the Alliance before it fell into disarray.

Acually, in medival times, women had alot of shit about that. Were still in concepting.

Kul Tiras is written without the '.
Also, the plague was a mean to initiate the attack over Lordaeron. At the end of the human campaign, the undead infestation have been stopped in the kingdom, but Arthas returns, kills his father and use the following confusion to increase the power of the scourge the way it is meant to be: Killing people and using dark rituals and the magic of Ner'Zhul to rise them as willingly soldiers of the scourge. The plague can only give you mindless zombies that are easily killed, and it can be countered with priests and quarintene.
 
Well, then I'll start writing sidestories. Should I write random stories or you want me to do it around a certain subject?
 
Can I have the techtree too?
I'm working in the fall of Kul Tiras. About Stormwind, it was destroyed during WC1 (in WC lore, orcs won the first war and lost the second), and all the lore about the reconstruction of the city was from WoW. Before WoW, all that was left of Stormwind are refugees living in Lordaeron and the kingdoms of the alliance.
