VideoGame Quest Beta V1.43
Play as either Mario, Link, Cloud, Master Chief, Samus, Kirby, Sonic, Mega Man X, Pikachu and more to come in a quest to save the VideoGame World! Inspired by VideoGame RPG and the creations of Loneslayer, Elven_Rage, and Pimp_Eman.

Basically, I really liked the idea of VideoGame RPG, but there weren't enough puzzles or anything to mix it up. It was a perpetual cycle of killing the enemies followed by finding more to kill. So I tried doing a complete remake with the idea but more puzzles and varied levels.

I didn't get the megaman crash, but I have to say I don't like his moves. I also didn't like how the repick system worked, because if you don't like your character not only do you have to die, you need to have 500 gold. so you have to work to get the gold, and then you have to die and repick. then you get your character and start over from level 1. I might check the other characters later, but as it is this map needs work.

First, I'd like to point out that Repick starts you out at the last levelled up hero on your team. I'll move the repick place to somewhere other than heaven especially for you, PsycsX.
Second, I've never played a Megaman game in my life, so I didn't really have any idea what I was doing for his abilities. If anyone has any suggestions for better ones, I would greatly appreciate it. It's too bad you were Megaman because he's the least developed character out of them all.
Finally, I have no idea about the character selection crash because it's never happened to me in-game. Occasionally I get random crashes, so that might have been what happened to you. I'll work on fixing that up, and sorry it happened.

I tested the map by my self as, Cloud.. as other comments say i noticed that repick level of all the heroes are of the last hero, which is nice for single player but i could see it being abused.. maybe use a varible for each player something where it gets your heros level then sets it in a varible, then when picking a character it would-- give triggering player -so and so- then set last gived/created heroes level to the variable,.. making it so others cannot take advantage of someone elses work. ( i beleive you would just have to intiliaze the variable for each player to 1 so you dont get some funky hero level, error)

About cloud, his spells are pretty good, however i recomend that you use the spells from www.wc3sear.ch someone already made a large amount of ff7 spells including sephroiths and clouds.
also the ultimate spell i think could be replaced with a spell that makes him attack fast but bounce from unit to unit.. its from some Enfo hero i forgot what its name was if you'd like i beleive i could send just the spell to you

After, playing around with cloud i selected Samus, the spells i personaly think are not really portraying Samus, there is a map i could send/show you if you'd like to see some nice spells for samus, also its unprotected so you could see how they where made

Map is great thought Mega Man is too powerfull later. You should make something like Mega Man buster , some style changing (in all Mega Man games he can change style after beating boss) and some other things.

Updates:
-------------------------------
-Tweaked Samus and Megaman X towards some suggestions (Shougun) but they aren't entirely finished being modified. Once again, any suggestions for X would be greatly appreciated.
-The game goes a bit further into the Halo level.
-The Arena is up! Talk to Cid to get a ride to the Arena.
-A couple of secrets have been added to the Graveyard, including a way to unlock Secret Character 1 (One-Winged Angel, anyone?)
-Minor bugs, such as getting stuck in the Lost Woods Redead Room, have been fixed.
-Four new character-specific items have been added for Link, Kirby, Chief, and X.
-Cloud and Chief have had their ultimates fixed, so they're no longer all bugged. Also, Sonic finally has his ultimate.

If you find any bugs, please report them to [email protected]. As for that Megaman X bug, I think it has something to do with his model/skin because I've noticed the same thing will happen to me whenever his portrait appears on-screen. I'll continue looking into it, but if anyone figures it out before me, you will be greatly appreciated.
 
I find this map very interesting. However, I also have a few critics for it.

- When battling against the Covenants in the Covenant stage (where you face the enemy aircraft releasing the aliens), after a few battles, the ship is moving away and nothing happen. I used iseedeadpeople to see where the ship went. It stands in the middle of the map and does nothing, and no other events are coming.
- You haven't given Afronight_76, RDZ and Black_Stan credits for the Mega Man X model.
- (Optional) I would recommend my version of Mario than GreyArchon's version since mine looks more like Mario.
- (Optional) I would also recommend my Koopa models to replace the in-game model as a Koopa unit.

Well, in Battle Network 3, after a while of fighting he got style changes. The styles were different in Blue and White, so why not add both in this?
They included:

[Elements] [Types]
-Fire-------Ground
-Water-----.Team
-Wood-----.Shadow
-Electricity--Guts
-----------Shield
-----------Custom
-----------Bug(As in Virus)

Now; there are also abbreviations of it all. I'll keep them in the same order, but replace them with their abbreviations.

-HEAT----Ground
-AQUA---.Team
-WOOD---Shadow
-ELEC----.Guts
---------.Custom
---------.Shield
---------.Bug


The style abilities:
The [GUTS STYLE] focuses mainly on the Buster. His megabuster, which is his arm cannon thing, will become stronger in both a regular fire and the charged fire. Also, when you rapidly tapped A, you would do a rapid fire if you were a Guts style Navi(What Megaman, etc. is.)

The [GROUND STYLE] effects the ground. In a game, it will affect the tiles, changing their types. For his attack, I would suggest using AoE spells, such as FlameStrike(Heat), EarthQuake(Wood), Monsoon(Elec), Frost Nova(Aqua). Of course, it would need name changes. Also, there were three more types. They were metal, poison and sand chips that would change the ground. For poison, I would suggest a weak immolation, changed sfx, and no manacost. Therefore, very weak. Not too strong. Make sure of that. As of the Sand, I would say use an aura that slows nearby enemies. For Metal, I would suggest a small aura that will give your allies and yourself a magic reducing effect. Of course though, that is a lot of spells. Therefore, any one of them cannot be too strong, or this style will be overpowered.

Another style, the [SHIELD STYLE], is a defensive and Recovery type style. Meaning, a devotion aura for one, and a healing spell for another. I would suggest putting in various things for him, defense and recovery-oriented.

The Team/Brother Style would call help from his ingame opponents, later friends. Megaman will, for a short period, summon one of his friends/opponents whom have a single ability. These Navis were: Roll(Megaman's friend, whom, when she attacked, came back and gave Megaman life, when he used her Chip. Use a Lifedrain), GutsMan (Also one of Megaman's friends, who focused on smashing. In doing so, he would crack panels.(In this case, stun you) I would suggest using a Shockwave), ElecMan (You can guess - He shocked his opponents. Use a Forked Lightning), TorchMan (Whom used fire to attack. Use a Fire Cone, using a Fireball SFX), BeastMan (This cool dude attacked you by jumping around and slashing you. I would suggest using Frenzy), MetalMan (Whom slammed you with his fists, he got real annoying in a fight. When you used his chip, it was like &quot;WHOAH, DAMN, IM POWERFUL LIKE THIS!&quot;. He slammed directly down, hurting you alot. I would suggest.. Try using War Stomp), DesertMan (This man really annoyed you. He really slows you down. Therefore, a slightly more powerful slow aura), My most FINAL FAVORITE!: KingMan (This damn guy was REALLY annoying. I have to admit: I could never beat him! My brother did it for me� This guy summoned pawns, knights, and rooks, from Chess. I would suggest having him make his own summons for the duration he's on the 'field', or, while he's summoned. This will summon a pawn to help you out while KingMan's here).

Another style is Custom Style. This style used Battle Chips to fight. In this, I would just merely have spells that add to your damage, or use random spells. This can be completely made up. (I never got this style, unfortunately. :p)

The most annoying style the enemy can face is the Shadow style. This style makes you disappear from sight. Therefore, I would use Windwalk, blink-based attacks, etc.

The RAREST and MOST POWERFUL(Sometimes most consequencial) style was the Bug Style. This style used bugs, or viruses, to either power you up, or make you weaker. For every ability you add to him, have a good and bad side to it. Per say, if you give him an aoe, make sure it hurts allies as well as enemies. Get the picture? I think you won't have any problem at all with this guy.


Now, as for the Elements, the Heat element would add damage and a splash to Megaman's attacks.
The elec element would add an annoying stun to Megaman, as this style had the longest stuns in the game. Trust me, if you got hit by one, you were done for.
The aqua element would slow down enemies, seeing that's the only thing I can think of.
The wood element would have the highest actual attack and most health.



Now, I may have said all this, but you may still be wondering, &quot;How the hell will he change between these?&quot; I have an answer for this. For a percentage of mana, and some gold, megaman can type commands to change types and elements (Once that type is unlocked - such as from beating a boss, or a quest). This should sum it up. Thanks, if you can get it in, that would be great.

Final note: The type is not matched with the element. It can be arranged in any order, like so: Heatguts, Aquabug, ElecShadow, WoodTeam, etc� These can come up in any order, so I would find it a little hard to change in between these. If you can ever fit them in, it would, as my brother says, &quot;ROOL!&quot;

Okay, I changed X up quite a bit. Mega Kick is definately going to be replaced with another attack (possibly Call Zero, Heart Tank, or Giga Attack). Thanks a bunch for the information on Mega Man, Nety0. I used it to completely redo his Boss Powers ability. It's not nearly as advanced as what you described, I'm sorry to say, but it's better than it was. He can now switch to Fire-type, Ice-type, Shock-type, Wood-type, and Bug-type attack (respectively per level up of Boss Powers attack).
Link is going to get his ultimate skill of Nayru's Love replaced with something more Twilight Princess based. Each character will soon get a spellbook ability containing non-upgradeable spells (Link's defend, Sonic's whistle, Samus' morphball, etc.) passive abilities, and possibly a rest spell to regenerate health.
As soon as I get the bugs fixed from the last update, I'll post the newest version. Finally, I'd like to thank everyone who has downloaded/played the map and posted their comments. If it weren't for players like you, I would have given this map up a while ago.

*Chuckles* Just a little while ago, I finished Twilight Princess. I'd definately like to see a nice Z:TP move for Link's ultimate.. Heck, maybe even completely fix up Link to Z:TP. I'm countin' on you to make this great! ;) Oh yeah, do you use USEast or USWest? (It makes a diff. :p My bro uses USWest and I use USEast. He helped me post the info. on megaman.

UPDATES TO V1.39

-I found the reason for that annoying fatal error glitch! It has been fixed. It seems Afroknight76 doesn't know how to make portraits, because Megaman X's portrait was causing the crash.
-Megaman X has had his old abilities replaced with new ones suggested by Nety0 and PsycsX.
-Minor bugs have been fixed.

I was recently in Heaven when I found this bug, if it is a bug. When you are training on training bots, you can get no higher than level 5, even on level 10 training bots. I would suppose it's the EXP ammount, but I could be wrong. And maybe changing the Training Bots' models so they vary would add some fun to Heaven Training :p

Here's the deal with Heaven training:
It purposely doesn't level you past 5 or add kills to your score. This is to avoid two things. First, you can't stay in Heaven and level up to become divinely powerful, thus making the map way too easy. Secondly, it doesn't add to your score (since every 100 kills rewards you an extra Pheonix Down) so players can't gain a bunch of extra lives while doing nothing. At the moment, Heaven training is only to gain enough money to revive OR to level you up to 5. I may change this in the future, such as allowing you to level to 10 once Lost Woods is completed, level 15 after Halo, et cetera.

I played this game on local area network with my bro and it was pretty fun. Despite the fact that it was pretty hard because there were only two of us (we got to the end of the halo part). We found a few glitches though:
-Zero cant use carbon copy it makes him disappear
-The scorpion can't load units of other people (Don't know if you made that on purpose)
-The scorpion cant attack because it has no attack button
-Level 1 Zero sometimes doesn't disappear after his timer runs out
-Fira materia and Din's fire can destroy trees, making things look wierd without the trees (like those pathing blockers in the Lost Woods)
-"The Blue Blur" is a better title for Sonic than "Super Hedgehog"

We were also disconnected at these places:
-Training area in heaven
-Covenant/flood warship

Don't know if we got disconnected because of our computers or if it was the game but its annoying and wanted to let you know.
Its much better then the original Video Game RPG good job! :)

UPDATE V1.43

-I've fixed some old bugs in this version, and probably created some new ones with the material I've updated.
-The new characters are added but not yet playable.
-Link has a new Twilight Princess ultimate that will probably need some tweaking.
-A few bosses have been tweaked so that they are more beatable, i.e. Tartarus.
-I have begun work on the Final Fantasy level, but it is not nearly complete.
-A few models have been replaced to reduce map size, but a few were also added. I don't like the new Cloud model, but it's 1/5 the size of the old one. :/
-Few other small tweaks.

there are more than enough dbz maps for wc3 so stop asking such things -.-

btw could u make the lost forest a bit easier? its extremely difficult to find the way to darklink and the way to get out of the forest(i couldnt do even one of them lol...i just managed to get out by getting killed by creeps)

About the Lost Woods: would a "panic button" help? For example, if one typed "-panic" or something, it would warp you outside the woods? The Lost Woods are meant to get you lost, but I don't want to make them too overly difficult.

And as for the Pikachu and Sonic models, I am actually going to add the Pikachu model. Probably. We'll see how filespace works out. I am not, however, using the Sonic model because I find its animations are rather ugly. Maybe if Battle.net allowed 5MB for the gamesize I'd add in the sonic model, but as is I'm already pushing 4MB.

I'd like to thank everyone for their comments and suggestions. I will look into making the Lost Woods a bit easier for the next update. A "demo" of the Final Fantasy level and Goku and Pikachu should all be playable soon. I hope you all enjoyed playing the map, and I look forward to providing you with more content in the near future.

Sorry that I updated the map without any real big updates. Here's why:

I found a major bug in the newest version (V1.45 BETA), and it completely ruined the map. Therefore, I figured I should go back and revert this to the last working version (V1.43 BETA) until the problem is fixed. I apologize once more. A working version of 1.45 should be released very soon with this bug removed.

first off your map is great well put together so far i've played it and like it.
my only question are the covenant going to get their own skins and is the rapairs coming along ok?

I Have a question. I'm at the end (or so I think) of the halo section. I kill the flood and escape but it tells me I failed because the marines didn't escape. How do I help them escape? They are NPC and don't take orders so.... I'm lost? How is that section winnable? I'd like to critic the map, which I've enjoyed thus far, but I can't finish it. Suggestions?

well all i had to do was move my guy near the marines. you are talking about the ones that gathered into a group where you first met up with them they north of the structure when this happens.

Thanks I'll try that. I had one guy left on the covanent ship in a corner. I thought I was supposed to save him. I never thought of regrouping with the ground forces. Thanks for the idea.
