umm no. not really. have you seen the zerg death anim section, they have like two different death anim, blowing up and burning to death which prolly could be achieved in WC through clever triggering. and the protoss death anim particle emitters looks as if will could whip out in few minutes

I'm probably just reinforcing your belief about them being similar, but Starcraft has a 1 : 8 DPS/HP ratio while Warcraft 3 probably has a 1 : 40 DPS/HP ratio. That really changes gameplay just by itself.
