Upgrading a unit into a new unit?

Is there a premade unit that can do this.

Basically, I will have a unit with multiple upgradeable tiers.

Lets say you have a foot man, you click on an purchase/upgrade within his abilities/inventory area and he then deletes himself and creates a new unit.

Does that exist already? Or would it have to be custom made?

If custom, I'm guessing I give my unit an ability that he can purchase. But what trigger should I use, unit upgrades? I'm not quite sure.

There is a replace action.

Could also use remove > create

should be pretty obvious if you look through the options.

Ok thanks, I just can't seem to figure out how to give the unit a purchaseable upgrade.

Do you know of a unit already existing that can do this?

1. give unit the inventory ability
2. give unit an clickable item (base on potion or something)
3. when unit uses items of type X, replace unit

A combination of object editor work and triggering is needed.

add the unit u wont to upgrade to the units sold in the object editor

then use this trigger

This can be done entirely with the object editor using the building upgrade system. It's hidden on normal units but still functional; just change a unit to a building, set the upgrade parameters, and change back to a unit.

check "is a building" and the upgrade option appears. you can modify it then make the unit a nonbuilding again and keep the upgrade property.

or use destroyer form.
