That's the thing, I'm not exactly sure how they do it, but they're saying they have no more "poly budgets" due to some new technology that improves performance/quality.

Admittedly I do not pay too much attention to what engine a game uses, but out of those few I am certain run unreal engine all of them go for the hyper realism approach as the game engine seem to have features they care about.
