So Unreal Engine 4 seems to be up and they are actually releasing it on a full source code license for a subscription fee of $19/month + 5% royalty of the gross revenue you make from games made via the engine.

What do you think? Is it a good thing?

EDIT: somehow it seems like CryEngine is/will be offering a $10 license (non-source code though)

Well its easier for indies to develop without having to dish out massive amounts of money for a licence. It also had massive improvements in the productivity and UI areas. Though personally Id go with Unity 5.0.

Unity still costs higher though... $75/month... + additional 75$ for iOS and another for Droid... while for the Unreal, the only additionals are for the PS4 and XBoxOne on a case to case basis because of some kinda NDA or something

PS: The one who introduced me to the news told me that it seems like CryEngine will be shipping out for a $10/month non-sourcecode license

PS: of $75 is the without VAT price... with VAT it was $94... and you're forced to register for 12 months as it seems...

Anyway, it's still depends on you... IDK if Unity has royalties... if it doesn't then on the long run it might be better to get it...
