Uhh..
I'm not sure if this is really supported by thehive, but my first reaction is that I think thehiveworkshop got an unwelcome visitor on the forums. Someone that's advertising for online pokersites through the site.

This is the screenshot of the link.

I might be totally wrong though, but I had to check in case this is really unwanted and to warn you.

It helps pay off the server?

Well if that's the reason it's there then ofc I understand it.
Just had to check it you know.
I'm getting sick of the amount of unwanted poker advertising e-mails I get. I thought thw was a victim of this aswel lol.

But it's quite understandable if it's there to pay the server indeed:D

It doesn't feel right though... I mean, if a new random forum just popped up like that you'd think Ralle would have an annoucement or something of the sorts.

Yeah, made me go WTF? for a minute when I saw that. I have a feeling it's not there to help pay off the server...

Edit: Also, notice how the forum link takes you to another website that is not the hive.

You could try it out, then donate whatever you made off that pokersite to Hive XD. At the very least you shouldn't wine if the poker site is paying and you're not donating. (Directed at everyone who wines but doesn't donate.)

In that case, we should really start putting many supporters' forums there...

Good idea, what other sites support the Hive? I'm not saying its right or wrong, but at the very least give credit where credits due, a sub-forum for people who supported the hive and one for websites that support it as well wouldn't be too much to ask would it? But just having that one supporter there makes it stick out like a sore thumb in the Hive. Well... more now than ever since someone took notice of it and made a thread about it.

Oh course the link takes you off-site, it's a damn advertisement. As far as I know, Ralle is not trying to make THW into a poker site itself, so the poker site that is advertised is not THW. It's quite logical that you'd be taken off-site, don't you agree?
A site like this needs a way of making money, and Advertising is the easiest and least annoying feature. Another solution would be to demand a monthly fee from users of THW. Which one do you prefer?

While in principal, it makes sense and is respectable, it completely screams 'Sellout' to everyone at the site. If that's not a problem, so be it, but no one likes contributing to a sellout.

So the banner ads at the top and bottom of every page aren't making enough money?

I don't particularly understand advertising like that anyways, as the fact that it's there isn't going to make anyone want to go to their site any more. If someone was looking for a poker site, you can always google poker, no need to remind everyone of it's existence 24 7.

And yeah, Ralle just responded back to me, that's not going away anytime soon.

I'd assume Ralle gets better payment because it is in within the immediate area one views when you log in to the forum. If you would have to scroll down in order to find it, it's not worth the same because hardly as many will see it. I prefer this over large flashy Advertisements that call for your attention. This one blends with the forum and that's a good thing. Makes it look more "professional" ..

I have to correct you.

The hive does not support a poker site.

A poker site supports The hive.

The difference is huge.

I am sorry if the ad bugs you. But I think this kind of ad is much better than popups and popunders and ads playing sounds. Those are completely inacceptable but I think this one is OK.

Wow what a big deal...

You do know that when you have an add on your site you aren't obliged to click on it?

For all i care i don't mind and i don't see such a big problem, most people who have access to the internet are aware of what poker is and i see absolutely no reason for anyone to object.

Are we going to get strip club ads anytime soon?

You can't compare a strip club with poker, one contains nudity(the poker that is).

We are not going to get adult ads. Why? Cause they are not family friendly.

And who cares about poker anyway? It's just a game. It's the most relevant ad we have ever had actually, cause wc3 is a game too. And this ad does not slow the site down in any way and you can collapse the category if you don't like to see it.

Well, it's a game. The difference lies in the people who play it.

Poker:

Warcraft:

Seriously now, they might both be considered games, but they have about as much in common as skiing and chess, when it comes to the cathegory of sports.

Ya poker ad over one of the pop ups saying click the dancing monkey or something else like that. It seriously sucks when your trying to write something on a site and a bandwagon of pop ups are coming from all over the place.

Ooh, lets start supporting a Runescape private server :D!!!

Lol, just kidding.

As long as I do not get spammed with online poker emails, I don't really mind it.
