[Campaign] Tides of War

After testing Tides of War, there are several suggestions I can make.

However, I will first start by saying that the terrain, for the most part, is quite well executed. Apart from during the cinematics, the environment feels in place with good use of doodads. Many of the skins and models you implemented are also quite good, although there are a couple I think you should change since they don't look right ingame. Jaina's skin you've used is one of them (though I believe you are already taking care of this). Thrall's model should also be changed since his portrait doesn't work.


I will now go through the several problems I encountered while playing this campaign:

BUGS/ERRORS
- The Blue Dragonspawn in Chapter 1 were vulnerable, so I was able to kill them again lol
- I received 'The Search' twice in Chapter 1. You should check the triggers behind skipping cinematics, as I encountered this problem after playing the cinematic where you find the dead Dragonspawn and pressing ESCAPE on the keyboard.
- There are no Game Caches used between chapters. You should implement this feature, as players like starting off with the items and spells they gained for the heroes during previous chapters.
- There is no background music for the gameplay part in Chapter 2
- There is a large gap of nothing happening at the end of the Retribution interlude
- In Chapter 3, the game does not complete after the final cinematic plays. This meant that I could not continue playing Tides of War.


SUGGESTIONS
- In Chapter 1, I found myself spending a while destroying any single building. Perhaps you could make every building in that mission have Heavy armor.
- I think you should rename the Magic House building. The name doesn't sound right.
- The bridges in Chapter 2 are too narrow. There were times when I was fighting the Horde on the bridge, and their armies grew so massively large that I was forced to retreat. This wasn't because I was trying to reach the heroes, but because the Horde was stuck on the bridge and grew repidly in size overtime. Also, it doesn't take long for them to kill your heroes easily from focus fire.
- I personally found Chapter 2 to be quite hard, in that there are certain tactics that must be used or else you will be overwhelmed by the armies of the Horde. You could decrease the times in which they attack, or removing some of their upgrades. The choice is yours, but I see a lot of future players having a lot of trouble with this chapter.
- In Chapter 1, I found myself easily finding the Fountain, even though it was an optional quest. On the other hand, I spent some time finding a way to disable the Force Wall which was a main quest. For future reference, it would be wise to not make main-quest related locations hard to find, as this will confuse the player in terms of where they are supposed to go. Hiding areas for optional-quests are fine.


CINEMATICS
- I recommend you using the fade in/out feature when transitioning between gameplay and cinematics. The change feels too sudden.
- Some of the cameras you've incorporated could be improved. There are so many example I could give that it would be lengthy for me to advice which cameras you should change, but basically you should ensure movement to keep cinematics interesting, and not have the camera distance too large to allow the player to see areas of the map they are not supposed to, such as the edge of a map.
- Units should be deselected during cinematics
- Numerous spelling/grammar errors (see below)


Overall, there are two major problems for Tides of War. The first is the spelling and grammar errors. These errors are so common that I advice you to revise all the dialogue for the entire campaign. Having others proof-read the dialogue is absolutely critical.

The second problem is the story and the way it is revealed to the player through the dialogue. Some of the events that take place are illogical or sound completely unrealistic to how people sound in real life when talking to each other. One example is when the Blood Elf appears in the final cinematic in Chapter 3 and says that he will come to free his brethren, and Jaina replies with 'Dammit'. In the Prologue when Thrall and Jaina are talking, it is obvious that the two are talking about Garrosh, yet Thrall doesn't say anything to defend himself as to why he is letting the son of Hellscream do whatever he wants with his people. Another problem with Thrall is when he approaches Jaina again in the Retribution interlude. Although Thrall is there to stop her from attacking Orgrimmar, he doesn't actually say or do anything to convince her otherwise. Like the spelling and grammar errors, all the dialogue will need to be revised to ensure that the dialogue that is being spoken by all the characters make sense.


Thus, this concludes all I have to say about Tides of War. As I cannot continue playing after Chapter 3, I will wait until you fix this error before sending you more reviews.
 
Okay, let's try to find a temp solution to access Chapter 4 and so on.

I don't know if it's protected or not, but here's a temp solution [if the campaign can be opened at WE] :
1. Open the Campaign at WE
2. Open Chapter 3
3. Add
  • Game - Victory Player X (Show dialogs, Show scores)
on Final Cinematic, X Being the Player Number of Jaina
4. Play Chapter 3 Again, this time you can win.

I hope that helps for now.

A bug u should make the archer inside cages or pens it is silly to walk to Silver Covenant Base and it says archer rescue quest complete also frost arrows upgrade should be avaible after u rescue the archers and After killing all heroes it is quest completed but inside quest box one hero is still not yet kill but there say quest completed please fixed them up.U could also rename magic house to Arcanic House sounds better to me but If u don't wanna change it is ok because I am not forcing u.They are so many heroes missing in Chapter 2 in the novel they are many heroes and reinforcements.Chapter 2 is very hard u should give Jaina some new spells.Example of spells

Thanks Turnro for this feedback in the next version all this thing will be fix, this really help me and i'm improving the dialogs for the next lvls, making it for realistic spechees, and i know about the chapter 3, that have SO MANY bugs, but i think that i already have fix every things with the others feedbacks

Feathermoon, i don't know if i will put custom spell know, perhaps when i finish the campaign, i do, for know i will just use the blizz spells or my altereted spell :)

Edit: i have remove the campaign for test, cause many people are reporting the same bug, i will updated again well i fix, with a new Fall of theramore terrain :)

I've got a version of the campaign if you want to start again from there. I don't know how much further you got from it but I guess if it allows you to continue work?

I already solve the problem, my friend have send me the newest version of the campaign ( that i won't have make nothing more after send to him )

anyway, thanks :)

Just a suggestion - back it up online, zipped and protected with a password.
And tell the testers the password. :D

i think that i don't need do this :p

Good to see the exelent work that you do , tides of war will be a great campaign the models the history and many other things are fabulous keep going :)
