Synopsis
By the year 3124 the technology that once helped humans to dominate their planet has long since been forgotten. In the wake of a devastating global war, the human race has splintered into small factions. Embracing the post-war fears of a complete ecological collapse, or a complete human extinction, several new extremist religions have sprung up. Among the most influential are the "Protectors", a militant, environmental protection based religion and "Presentism", a group with no concept of an after-life, they encourage exploitation of natural resources. Using the limited, but highly advanced, technology they still posses, wealthy merchants and aristocrats have been able to blur the lines separating science and magic. The only quasi-nation that still holds anything resembling basic influence is the "Republic of Novissime", though they occasionally tolerate the followers of "Presentism", they are atheistic and often in conflict with the "Protectors". Centuries have passed since the global war that destroyed and irradiated much of the planet, you are a member of one of these rival factions tasked to rediscover lost technology. The future of the human and the not-quite-human residents of Earth is in your hands, will you usher in a brighter future, or assist in humanity's downward spiral?

Gameplay
Heroes:
Players will be able to choose from 6 custom heroes, each hero will have 8 custom abilities. The maximum hero level will be 40. Heroes will learn spells from their class trainer, either at the level originally intended for a discounted price, or prior to the intended level for an increased price.
Quests:
The primary quest line will lead you through all of the different areas, in each area there will be more quests that flow off of the primary quest line. Your primary objective is to collect exotic technologies for your wealthy patron. The more technology you amass for your patron, the higher the likelihood of new quest lines becoming available.
Natural Events:
Heroes will be subject to wild natural events, such as storms, earthquakes, or other disasters. Unnatural disasters may include the outbreak of a war/conflict or long forgotten ordinance. Certain areas on the map will be "hot spots" of radiation, your level and hero class will determine how long you can safely remain in these places. At first, Novissime officials and experts believe that the radiation is natural, left over from nuclear devices detonated during the global war. However, some of the appearances of the "hot spots" seem less than harmless and natural.
Factions:
Players will have the option to either focus on their reputation and prowess within a single faction or become revered with all of them. The faction a player is affiliated will not limit access to items, trainers, or zones. The two largest factions, the "Republic of Novissime" and the "Protectors", are engaged in perpetual combat. The followers of "Presentism" are usually able to slip past the front lines unnoticed, but are occasionally drawn into conflict with the other two factions. Primarily the "Protectors", given that the "Presentists" and "Protectors" have drastically differing beliefs. A fourth small faction has a rather small, but influential role.
Player vs. Player:
Players will be able to duel in designated areas, away from city guards and roaming beasts. We are also considering adding several regions to our map that can serve as a Player vs. Player arena when the camera is locked to those areas. This feature would be activated by popular vote. This may not be in the final version, because the nature of a Role Playing Game is that players will vary greatly in armor, spells, and level.
Influence of the Story:
As you complete the various quests, both the primary quest line and the other secondary quests, you will uncover more and more information about the "past". This may include, but is not limited to, the cause of humanity's decline, the "global war" mentioned in the synopsis, the relationships between the three factions, or hints pertaining to the location of the "Republic of Novissime" on the globe.

Now this looks interesting. It's got a great story and concept to build off of. I imagine it will be so futuristic that it is almost primitive (If that makes any sense at all) The blurred lines between science and magic are interesting, this allows you to make 'magic' abilities, but still explain them with the use of these long forgotten technologies. I can imagine some really complex and advanced characters in this as well with all the different beliefs. I like it. Keep up the good work and don't forget to update the thread, I'll be checking back from time to time.

That's exactly what we are aiming to accomplish. A degraded society overall, but with hints of the highly advanced and futuristic technology that ravaged the planet, as well as, humanity during the global war. We are seeking to strike a balance between new and old.
Please comment with any suggestions.

Terrain Looks cool, and for story, it's an original idea!

Suggestions:
A plot twist with Alien invasions on planet which you have to help defend? c:
Each of your factions (Presentists, Protectors and Novissim) will react differently to the invaders, creating a larger storyline.

You could call the invading aliens "Devourers" or something evil like that. Add boss battles with their leaders for special rewards!

Good luck on your project!

I like the idea, i'll pass that along to our story developer. I haven't talked to him in about a week, but if he hasn't already come up with something similar, or decides to try and incorporate it, I will keep your username in mind for final credits. Thanks for the idea!
