The Start - Episode1

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.

Im developing a huge project of a Campaign, this map includes the First of them all, i have like 32 maps, but they are all under fixes of bugs and issues. I hope you like it.

Content: The map shows the starting zone with a guy named Arlon Gavinrad, (father of the mighty paladin of the Silver Hand: Jeff Gavinrad the Dire) ,a bandit refugee hidden on a cliff with a group of bandits. He is a combat skilled warrior and the period of time of the world is 100 years before the Opening the Dark Portal in an another dimention. You will discover the mystery when i upload more maps, of course the reason behind this is not until the 5th map, as i said im working on the 32th map and im not planing to create a limit yet.

Givea reply, any commend or private message for your feedback, i MIGHT upload map 2,3,4 and 5 for the continuing campaign.

I'm sorry dude but this map is AWFUL!!! 1/5 and I'm being generous!
I didn't find ANY GOOD POINT!
The terrain is very bad, the game is very short and there is a very few space to walk in! Most of the map was empty. In addition, the dialogues had mistakes and lasted for the eternity. Only 1 quest? I don't care if it's only episode 1, it is far too short and u will not attract anyone to see all the 32 maps u've done!

Sadly, I vote for REJECTION!

U must learn how to create good terrains and make more space to walk in! U should also put more than a humble quest.

I will make sure your comment is useful, indeed the map is very short and poor but through out the next maps, the terrain , doodads and other structures will increase quality and space. The map i posted is what i have did last 3 years, im working to improve alot better the first one, creating more quests and mor einteresting events, but ofcourse i need to change the rest aswell.
Thanks

Unfortunately, with such a terrible beginning, nobody will be interested in the rest of the campaign as people will think, "Bah, this map is soo bad that even the rest will be like it!" So unless this episode is fixed and improved, do not hope that people will download other episodes (including me)

Hello,

This is not a bad start for a first map, but you have some problems.

  • Your force properties make the game available for 3 players, but it is a single player map. You should fix this to remove any confusion.
  • I couldn't talk to leader gorsh, so instead I killed him. Then I destroyed the barricade at the front gate and went outside. Pretty sure neither of these things are supposed to be possible.
  • I went afk for a bit and made tea while my weaponmaster killed an entire gnoll encampment at level 1, without any user interaction. You can see why this is bad design.

In general you have many trivial issues that should be addressed. You don't have a game, you just have a series of ideas that you built in the world editor.

You need to spend a lot more time working on your story and map before it will be available for public play.

Good luck.

Update

I have been seriusly working on the first map, i changed locations, expanded the terrain and make more nicer, all of your feedback are important so today i worked the starting area, still the map contains incomplete triggers and i only made 1 quest, im thinking to make more than that, more features, more happenings and more action.
Here is some screenshots from my new terrain of the starting zone.

Test your map in the game. Note down improvements as I did and fix them in the editor. Test it again. Add features and test again. Note down improvements and fix them in the editor.

Repeat this process many times per day for a few weeks, and your next update to this map will be a significant improvement.

While developing Orianna I started in December of last year and didn't tell anyone about it until this December when I released it. Modding takes a lot of time and you must learn to critique your own work so that your releases are significant.

Those new pictures r superb but could still be developed a bit! I suggest u add the "Leaves" tile if u know how to do it. I'm going to tell u anyway.
Advanced ---> Modify Tileset ---> Tick on "Use custom tileset" ---> Click on "Leaves", it's the last tile in Ashenvale ---> Click "Add Tile"
Now u can add leaves in ur terrain. I think it'll make it look much more awesome! :goblin_good_job:

I like your idea but the ashenvale leaves look a little dark, im trying to find how to edit a default tileset and make it more green and brighter in comparison with the new trees.

The only way to reach perfection is LOTS OF MISTAKES and LOTS OF EXPERIMENTS! Try many combinations which would seem impossible. You know, in one of my cinematic maps, Searing Conflict, I wanted to add some rock spires in some places and what did I do? I started SPAMMING them on the trees and ta da! The result was marvellous! I was just kidding in the beginning but the result was unexplainably great! :ogre_haosis:

So far i have made 2 perfect quests with good quality but i have learned how to manipulate with Trigger Variables... my god what an headache... and yes and making dozens of tests and experiments.. im using all my brain on everything.

Its going to be painful to make the optional quests in the same time with the main quest

The RPG was too fast to play, simple questing board and nothing less tight edges, I just went to a wall and this happened(it even lured the Quest Giver):

Then stumbling on this breakable glyph I didn't knew it was the Quest itself:

I didn't actually do anything and the game ended, really before competing a huge mapping work, do start on how to regulate a decent presentation, how the story would go and how the routes would end.

I suggest working here first: Map Development Thread
