General Information

During making this campaign for many years, I have met incredible persons. Without them, this project would have died long time ago. With your feedback and help I'm able to finish this project. What we must remember, is that I'm not doing this for myself, I'm doing this for you.

I'm really sorry if you have helped me in any way and I have not added you to the list. Please, tell me immediately and I will add your name to the right place. Thank you.

Special Credits

Kitabatake
Kitabatake is, without a doubt, the most important person to this campaign. He produced several systems, massive amounts of complex triggers, and provided large amounts of models textures, and icons as well. Kitabatake's devotion and contribution towards the campaign is definitely the greatest of all.

Maker
Makes has helped in a long run various ways from creating important systems to helping me to fix very complicates bugs I couldn't handle. The help he has given is enormous and he's for sure one of the most important and supportive persons I have met while doing this campaign. For all the things you have helped me, thank you.

Flecky
This man is a strong long time supporter of the campaign since the beginning of its creation. His influence on the campaign is unquestionable and without him, many things would have gone differently. I could not ask for a better supporter. People like him are essential for big projects like this one. For all the support you've given to me through all these years, I'm really grateful to you.

David
David and I have been in correspondence for a long time now on the subjects of: story, ideas, characters and texts. We have done much work together and had some nice debates. A couple times he took breaks for his studies, he but always came back to give honest input and read the texts I send. In respect to our friendship, he requests that the campaign be completed not too long from now, and I hope to be able to honor that. Thanks, David, and speak to you soon!

Hello, dunno if playing this in 2026 is wise but it sure fun as hell, still on Chapter 4 on easy with Beginner Set tho, but is there a way to unstack/split off my items like magic balls? or am I screwed? looking up left and right between this, the project subforum on this site and TCO's own forum kinda doesnt leave me with a solution that worked, if you have video proof on how this work, I would appreciated, thanks.
It is fun as hell, i play it every few years again.

Sadly unstacking/splitting items does not work, sad too say. (most of us believe some old version had it, but it never got fixed to work again, in the full release)

So the rule is never stack Lesser Magic Ball above 5x, because with 5x you can create Greater Magic Balls and never stack Greater Magic Balls above 8x because they can be used too create the Greatest Magic Ball later on. Some recipes require lesser magic balls or greater magic balls. So i would also keep 1x spare greater magic ball seperated, some quest also require 1x Greater magic ball.

There are a bunch of bugs in the campaign, even when played on the recommended patch.

While the forum is quite old, every now and then somone creates some new lists etc. In generel there are a bunch of super helpfull posts, spreadsheets where too find items etc. and also bugreports for the latest version 1.1

If we get a new patch, we simply dont know, the creator came back a few times and the disappeared in the mist again. : )
(after he worked for years and finished the whole campaign)

Ah Thanks you, I have been looking into that forum as well, a bit sad that the dev isnt active here anymore, but i hope him do well IRL.

a bit gameplay question tho, in chapter 5, I beat the vampire lord and all, so is it wise to craft a Master Key by now? like is it really that useful or does all quest has their keys hidden somewhere and this Master Key just a shortcut on lessen the hassel on finding the keys.

The Master Key is not needed for anything and does not unlock anything you cant open anyway, so i would not craft it. (besides 1 thing in CH7, but there is nothing too collect or interesting too see, so the key is pretty useless)

It just makes things easier specificly in CH6, but you get everything by just exploring the map.
(now that i thing about it, i think you can Open a chest in CH5 with it, but you also get the key for it in that chapter, so also no Master Key needed)

I usualy dont use any of my Magic Ball or Greater Magic Balls for crafting besides upgrading them.
But thats basicly for min maxing the Balls xd

Already got the Zozi from John's Key, what do you reccomend using it for by ch 5/6? or is there a secret quest/item for it later?

wuh oh.

From what I know, you're cooked on that whole unstacking thing. No answers for it.

Sad, but not that bad, you can always do that side quest next run. :)

Ahhh, the good old boxes. Truly scary. But no probs, that's only for like 1/3rd the map you won't comeback to (basides some secrets).
I forgot how I fixed my issue with that, but you can just ignore it. After that stage of the map, there won't be any mushrooms left anyway.

Aaaaaand I already have to go to an even earlier save cuz I thought getting Galeoth for Ch6 early make my stuff better
turned out, it made me miss the elite quest!
Yeah, trying to go for 100% run is quite hard on 1st play through. So many quest are blocked if you continue too much, which makes it easy to miss. Better spam those saves like almost 4 times every chapters (Start, middle, middle, end) to ensure no bugs or weird stuff wastes an hour of gameplay.

Okay, kinda stuck a lil bit, I'm trying to complete "The Forgotten Ones" quest in Chapter 6 but seem like nothing is accepting my Adept Staff, Greater ball and INT potion? what's the problem? Who am I gonna give those to? The old mage guy or the magic circle in the room that got unlocked after completing this quest? do I have to beat the 2nd main boss to progress????

NVM, I NEED A TOPAZ

Jacob was the hunter Guy right, he should be up where you start the map from after you gave the 1x greater magic ball to Malkoga in the middle near the teleporter before you fight the boss below.

Also Zozi are just for crafting later on or CH6 and above crafting the strongest items with, in general you get enough Zozi to build the good stuff.
I usually craft the most in CH8 or CH9, but i also minmax a lot, there are a bunch of items that increase stats permanenty, those i craft early.

Might have to take a give up, Ch9 Epic Boss's phase 3 and 4 is beating my ass, don't think the Basic Set skills can beat him with how a phase THAT DISABLE MANA AND REGENS. What even get ported to you on give up btw? Gold, Honor points and anything else like Luck?

NEVER BLOODY MIND, NOT EVEN CLOSE (i lost like 5 lives cuz Galeoth take true damage overtime and i forgot to pop his set's manashield :wheeze:)

That is the hardest boss in the game basicly, so ye most player's dont beat him the first time, requires a lot of good items and abilties.(my first try at the game i could not even get past CH6)

You could go to CH10 and beat the endboss, you can basicly just straight up go too him.

Then you could start the game over with some rewards for beating the game and you could start over with them.
Give up what exacly it carries over should be displayed somewhere or in the Prologue where you choose the abilities, there are multiple options too read descriptions.
But in generel it should be Gold, Honor, permanent luck and some other stuff.

Mid Ch10 Epic boss i have to take a break, saved and gone back only to see all ch10 files corrupted. Uggggghhhh.
I beat that Uumuht guy too and that Angel. Guess im leaving this next week.

Seem like triggering any cutscene just make any saves afterward bugged??? Okay. So I have to do the entire chapter saveless.
The Final Chapter. With Fat Fuck Self Healing Insta-killing DoT Spamming Acid Lizard.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND I'm done. God Xvareon was miles easier than Zyl except for the part where he delete my levels. Overall enjoyable, tho a bit buggy with how old the campaign is. Will replay on higher difficulty somedays. Thanks yall who have helped me during my own playthrough and credit to the devs for working on this, may they do well IRL, cheers.

To end it off, what's ya guys choice on the skill/starting item selection? i picked the Basic Set that is avail on Quick Play button that is more oriented on getting 3 perma luck, Elemental support units and also stun and stun-like (like Fradz's Flash Strike and Galeoth's Freeze). just wanted some recc for my next runs.

And is there any other invisible enemies other than like the Ch8's elite mission? cuz it kinda make the Frad's starting magic scope and Magic dust kinda useless?

Gratz mate. No save ever corrupted for me (just some saves that crashed after some time on some bosses), what version you playing on WC3 ?

There are a bunch of good starting sets, depends really what difficulty you play on.

On Phodom i like too take the set with holy cross, as it is op for hardcore as it works from the box as a free revive. But the damage hammer set gives huge attack power early chapters, so for beginnerns not bad.

Fradz i always go for Sword of Haste, the attack speed stack sword, 100% attack speed is almost the best item in the game.

Galeoth depends: Badge is nice aura, but usually i go Opponist for the aura, which is really nice to and got buffed, just harder too start with. Cloak of ice is nice for later, you safe 3000 gold in order to make Galeoths set or you take the magic damage stack item which helps early for beginnerns again.

So for hardcore: Holy cross, Sword of Haste and Oppotunist thats a +2 luck start to which is optimal for a new hardcore run.

If you wanna figure out builds yourself i would recommend too not read the part below : ) :

Best abilities in my opinion:

Phodom:
S = Blazing Fury for damage or Warcry for endgame or Fire Power all of them are good
Q = Meltdown ( always, armor reduce is the most broken thing in the game, forcing bosses too take insane more damage, the more armor shred we got)
R = Aura of Fire is nice, Spinning Death is also insane op with 50% evade + damage or take Battle Banner if you want more gold and late game buff. (all of them are good)
W = Flame Explosion i almost alwayxs take, stu nis nice + miss chance, really helps a lot for Phodom too survive, that said Ground Zero can do insane damage with magic damage.
E = Heaven's Bless insane op for Hardcore difficulty, free revive +heal over time, this is just insane.
D = Chaotic Rift is nice i take this most of the time, Phoenix Combo also kinda funny but kinda annoying to use.

Fradz:
S = If you go attack damage with Fradz then Sword Dance, if you go for magic damage on Fradz Power Orbs ( note these are super buggy and work for the entire party, also the safe file will get bigger and bigger, so if you not fast enough you will crash the game at some point CH7+ so a beginner should not take them) (Energy Shield is just bad and Illusory Double, illusion lag the game later in chapters when they spawn, super annoying)
Q = Scissor Stab (again armor reduce = op) (the rest is whatever, Double Wave looks cool tho)
R = Invisible Strike is nice early, but i usualy take the Lightning Element as it can heal fradz and later on lv.12 it can buff someone with a attack and magic damage buff.
W = Flash Strike go to for attack damage Fradz and looks cool, High Strike is ok but you stop attacking, Lightning Storm COOLEST ability in the game, does no damage tho except for CH2 even if you stack magic damage the damage is bad, but looks nice. Energy Ball is the best one if you go magic damage Fradz, it does insane damage later.
E: Blessing of Lightning if you go attack damage, it helps digging stealing and also heals and gives damage super good.
Electro Shell if you go magic damage, it is the most broken ability in the game, making all heroes almost immortal later on + scaling magic damage increase for the entire party for 10 seconds scaling with magic damage, if you want a insane eary extreme/hardcore clear Electro Shell with stacking magic damage Fradz is beyond broken OP. (The other 2 abilitiers are useless and the Link one does not even work besides HP reg)
D = Teleport Strike if you attack damage and Orb of Lightning if you go magic damage.

Galeoth:
S: Seal of Resurrection i basicly always take, OP for hardcore free revive. The other ones kinda useless, stun doenst matter to much, Icy Barrage the Slow can be nice.
Q: I like Frost Shard, when used galeoth staret auto attacking super fast after, the other abilities he does not and Magical Hammer i like visually, but i always run into lag issues with it as it spawns some invisible dummies or so i rather not take it.
R: Magic Convert..... if you dont take this i dont know what is wrong with you, the second best abilitie in the game.
W: Frozen Fang armor reduce op op dont bother with the rest.
E: Glacial Armor is really good for Phodom later but Magical Fog is also nice + gives the party magic damage which is late nice. Inner Light is ok, but i dont like it, but it helps in CH3 a lot if you new.
D: Frozen Paradise instead cast + stun + aoe damage. Frozen Storm you cant auto attack while doing it or move which is not good and Illusions Army again lag in endgame also they dont get the Magic Convert abitiy which makes them with magic damage stacking bad.

And then i basicly just collect almost everything in each chapter, do everthign in order to beat CH9 and CH10 hardest bosses : )
The most important part is Magic Balls and not stacking them above 5x.

In the Chosen ones forum are a lot of resources lists, spreadsheets locations etc , i recommend looking there.

Wow that is A LOT. I'm playing on 1.29.2, seem like the saved bug was caused by... "Buying True Zozi from the popag" strange i know but that is the only difference between my 1st and 2nd attempt of Ch10, 2nd attempt i got so anxious that i have to save before and after cutscenes then load to check what happened, legit dunno why that specific buying with my leftover monies caused that but okay? ig I just press Never on my 2nd playthru.

Also damn I thought Illusion Army could have been useful with Magic Convert and Ice Barrage Galeoth, too bad huh.

So I found a really good guide spreadsheet that is a really good checklist and look up for items and stuff, credit to Tears: The Chosen Ones

Anyway, so what are these Brittle/Bleed/Stagger effect that Damanthe's set talked about (more precisely deal more dmg vs Bleed/Stagger enemies)? Cant find any info on them in any of the forum other than Aero added them to some skills then kinda wished to removed them, which I think he did but im vaguely remember that one of Galeoth's skill still inflict Brittle

Edit: so seem like Frozen Fang in-game, not during the prolouge setting part, has its desc said "inflict Bleed for 3 sec, if target has brittle does 20% more dmg" but using it does the proper effect "lower 20 armor", strange...

No idea if that set even works, Frozen Fang some tooltip is bugged and will say it applied brittle but it stuns.

Bleed should be some items that do some bleed over time on an enemy, but those items are in general bad, stagger also no idea, i dont even believe any of that is used really : )

But ye in general some stuff just does not work, normaly our Dragon Slayer's are also supposed be be able to crit and it worked before version 1.0 but then never got fixed, same as unstacking items, that was once in the game (at least im pretty sure it was)

Only Galeoth is able to crit and got a fixed crit chance and crit damage in version 1.1a which i dont really understand why the creator did that. The game is just way easier if they can crit.

If you want you can read through a bunch of bugs in version 1.1.
