Heya.

I would really love to see a new terrain contest comming up, since I decided to give it a go at a contest but the thing I'm best at is terraining. Ofc I have idea's about the terrain contest theme but I don't really mind whatever it will become.

Are there ppl here that share the same feeling and maybe have a cool theme in mind?

What about:

"On top of the mountain"
"Deep inside the cave"
"Hidden in the Ocean"
"Deep in the Forest"

Or something where people have to terrain 4 terrains that are representing the elements of: Air, Earth, Fire and Water in nature. So you could make a volcano (fire) high mountains with clouds (air), forest (earth) and an ocean (water)?

I personally like it if the contest becomes big so 4 terrains > 1 in my case.
An other thing I like is things about making terrains with totally different things like good vs evil.

An other possily cool idea is to make 2 terrains that represent the area of a great battle. One of them before the battle, and the other terrain after the battle. So you people that like modern terrains can make a destroyed city or something, but maybe others come up with other idea's.

What do you think of this?

Oh and about that harry potter castle idea. Not very long ago there was a castle contest already so we might better go into something else now.

lol you could just google harry potter instead so if your not intrested i do get it but you could just go google and wiki and some images and there you go im not vary intrested in potter but id like 2 terrain something like it

We did mythology 2 contests back I think. It sucked, if I remember right. Massive shitstorm poll, wasn't it? A lot of them were so incredibly vaguely mythological the theme was almost irrelevant.
I'd like something nice such as a panorama, which could then be branched into panoramic desert, forest, mountains, landscape, whatever. (such as a massive view of a forest with, say, rocky mountains with forests on its slopes sticking out would be probably forest or landscape)

I personally don't like sea terrains. But that wonders of the world sounds nice. Because everyone can choose his own 'worldwonder' there will come alot of different terrains. However we could let people chose a excisting place to create? Like Himalaya, Rocky Mountains or Sahara or something?

I have some ideas:

Abstract Terrain:
Title pretty much says it all. The goal is to make a terrain that does not at all resemble real life, but rather conveys a concept.

Emotional Terrain:
Create a terrain the conveys an emotion: Love, hate, grief, etc.

Reflections:
I could judge it.:xxd:

Horror/Comedy:
Similar to the emotional idea, but the idea would be to either make the viewer laugh with mirth or scream with terror.

Indoor:
It could just be indoor in general, or it could be specific:
Dungeon
Museum
Palace
Temple
Playable Indoor

Water:
Do something creative with water: Put a reflection in it, have the camera halfway underwater., etc.

Book/Movie-Based:
Make a terrain based on a book or a movie. It might be wise to cut out the movie part, because otherwise people would just copy the movie instead of using their imaginations.

Dante-Based:
Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, anything from The Divine Comedy.

Sci-Fi:
Title says it all.

Prisons:
Kind of an offshoot of the dungeon idea, build an epic prison for someone truly evil.

Prehistoric:
Dinosaurs, Ice Age, Cavemen, etc.

Warcraft, Diablo, Starcraft:
Something inspired any of these.

Renaissance:
Terrain something from the renaissance.

Modern:
Title says it all.

Alien World:
Terrain something on an alien world. The idea would be for the terrain to resemble Earth as little as possible.

Weather/Extreme Weather:
Create a terrain that features some sort of weather. If the theme were extreme weather, then it would be something like a hurricane, tornado, etc.

Odd Camera-Angle:
You may create any sort of terrain, but you must use an uncommon camera angle (Upside-down, sideways, etc.) for it, and make sure it looks good from that angle.

Close-Up:
You know those photos that are like closeups of a butterfly sitting on a flower and stuff? That's the idea.

Animals:
Pick any type of animal and do a terrain about it. Anything from a bee in a beehive to giant squid swimming around at the bottom of the ocean.

Contrast:
Foreground: Deep canyon, Background: Huge mountain. Stuff like that. Make a terrain riddled with contrast that is still pleasing to the eye.

Personally, I'm all for Wonders of the World. That sounds awesome.

Um... Not everyone have played it... (damn I'm gonna get flamed for that).
I am a hardcore warcraft fan, but the wc3 was the first I came over and I haven't bothered to get wc2 since the graphics would only hurt my eyes... I tried the first few levels of starcraft some months ago, but damn. I couldn't continue because the graphics were so... You can't literally see a shit, I couldn't tell the diffrence between zerglings and hydralisks and so on.

Wonders of the World

No imports could be added aswel but that might become hard for people planning to make tree area's so I think we all end up with rock spam after all.

Machu Picchu, a perfect excuse for using blizzard cliffs.

Edit: However I don't like this theme. Becouse Wonders of the world is more about unnatural stuff which isn't much of a challange in WE, I suggest something more natural
