Hey guys, so sorry for the massive lack of progress. I've been very busy on my school. They've been throwing alot of projects our way and I've had nil time to make WC3 models. I promise that I'll try as best I can to make time for it, but it might be difficult.
About the clan Grunts, I don't see that you have anything to whine about seeing as Whisper is already making some awesome models. So check out his thread if you want more Grunts.
Again, I'm sorry, I've been very busy lately.

Hey guys.
I must admit I have not been working on WC3 models for a LONG time. As before, school has been taking up my time, and now me and a couple of other guys are trying our luck at making indie games. So, there hasn't been much time to even play the game, let alone make models for it.
Summer vacation's beginning today, so I MIGHT be able to get some work done in the vacation. But alas, no promises.

I apologize if I let anybody down, and I really wanted to finish this model myself. I still might, but as I said, no promises.

Hey what's up Tauer? I don't want to sound selfish but I was wondering if it'd be alright to edit the Ner'zhul skin for a project of mine, I need him fel orc and this is the only ner'zhul model I can find anywhere, if you don't mind I would like to just change his skin color that's it, thank ya. Oh btw how's the Indie games going? :)

Wow, haven't visited this site for ages.

Still, haven't had time to make any models for WC3, not sure if I ever will again.

The Indie game is doing alright, it's an Iphone game. I know, I know, an Iphone game, that sounds lame. But we had to start somewhere :p
And after that's finished, we plan to move on to bigger things.

You can read a little bit about it here if you'd like:
http://www.indiedb.com/games/granny

Warchief Grom, sure you can edit all of my models as much as you wish, as long as you credit me for the original.

Alright guys, I know I said I wouldn't make more models, but I couldn't help myself :p

So I started on a new model. A new, and vastly updated version of Orgrim Doomhammer.
Hopefully I'll actually get it finished this time... But I've never made it this far on a new model before.

Modeling part is done. Still working on the texture though.
Tell me what you think.

1k tris.

Personally, I think he could use some facial hair, maybe some sectioning in the armor aswell.

Otherwise, very good, though I could see mutton chops on 'em looking very nice.

I think the head looks out of place mainly because there's nothing to counter the jaw size like there is with the Knight and his hairstyle, aswell as large shoulderpads.

As far as animations go, though, I do have a few one-handed and two-handed models I could send you. Maybe they could help you out.

The chin is too tall. As far as animations go, maybe watch the Orc campaign cinematic? Check both Grom and Thrall's animations. Specifically when Thrall makes his throw at Mannoroth, and his roar after Grom's death.

You might not want to go for quick attacks, try something slow, with a quick thrust. Especially with an overhead attack. Aswell as making sure that the weight of the hammer throws his chest around a bit when he runs or attacks.

If you're trying to make it true to the concept, raise his shoulders slightly.

His overall proportions are too... Human-like. He should be a lot bulkier, fatter, and most of all, shorter! He looks like an elf-human-orc halfbreed of some sort with those ridiculously non-WC3-ish legs and arms.
His armor looks like paper to be honest. You should give his 'separate' armor pieces some actual WIDTH, mainly the shoudlerpads, belt buckle(make it fatter\stand out more), those circular things on his chest and the tip of his glove(upper tip).

that armor tip was really great, debode, adds a lot to the model...

still, you need to oversize it, tauer.
shorten the leggs and arms, broaden the shoulders

also i think he needs bigger fangs, and then you need to broaden the lower lip to make them fit. (not included in screenshot)

and nothing against the texture of the hammer, but meh, it should be a hero's weapon and it looks really flat like this right now...

sry for my crappy mockup :)

The pic I show is a good example, but still I like your Orgrim Doomhammer and there is hardly any good art of him anywhere.

because I compared the model with the grunt as a regular orc and grom as a thin orc hero.

And what I noticed are, that the head is too big and the legs are too short which makes him appear fat and small. He's also missing a forearm. Oh and a side view might also be a good idea.

Edit: just noticed that I looked at your edit D:

Alright, I took everybody's advice into consideration and made a few tweaks to the model.

Before:

After:

Too much? Too little?
I'm deliberately using Thrall's hammer texture, to avoid a too big filesize.

Ok screw what everyone else said. :3

The problem isn't how fat he was, its his stance. His neck just needs to be hunched over, and the new shoulder width is perfect. At the moment he is too upright like a human.

hehe, nvm...
well, its just a quick mockup, didnt say (or want) it to be perfect.
the arms dont fit, too, the upper arms are too long compared to the lower one, but lets just kepp it at that and dont spam this thread, k? :)

well, maybe a mix of everything would help?

Alright, I've made his legs shorter now. I'm definately not gonna make him shorter and fatter, otherwise it'll just look stupid. I want him to look like an orc, not a fatty.
I think Bob is right, the stance probably makes him look more humanlike.

I'm going away for the weekend to a Game Jam, so I'll probably not get any work made there. Coming home again sunday or monday.

I'd rather go for the concept look than a WoW model.
