i seems that blizzard may require people to have an active connection to battle.net to play the game. they might even go as far as require a montly cost.
Think it's also to help combat pirating, getting people to sign up and register their cd key etc.

You know what would make me happy? A beta key.
i have seen the battle.net screen. there it say multplayer as well as single player. though only multiplayer can be accessed.
command and conquer 4 is online only. (possibly what blizzard will do to starcraft 2) command and conquer 4 have single player.
You can still access single player whitout being online. That's 100% sure!
I hope to god that Blizzard and StarCraft II won't fail as much as Relic did with DoW2. Obviously StarCraft II will never used Live, but it shouldn't require online for EVERYTHING...
i have played command and conquer 4. in order to start the game people have to log in with their EA accounts. i believe that blizzard will do something similar with starcraft 2.
why is there then a single player option in the battle.net lobby.
there is emulation software for starcraft 2. it can be found on the pirate bay. the pirate bay was sued. they even lost the case but the website is still there.

Then you are being closed-minded and missing out on a chunk of what the game has to offer. Further, if gaming for you is about 'being alone' then why are you on a modding community board which is primarily about social interaction?I dont play multiplayer at all, and never will.

It sounds more likely to me you had your feeling hurt across the internet and decided to shelter yourself while defending your stance against multiplayer with a smokescreen excuse. Either that or you are a Yahtzeeh fanboy. Stop putting your back up in the air against things you have no care about with some illogical notions.
Blizzard's Bob Colayco said:"An initial activation check-in is required, which we also have been mentioning since BlizzCon and even before that. The campaign and other solo aspects of the game are still playable offline after your initial activation."
