Blizzard Entertainment has just released a game mod based on CarbotAnimations for StarCraft: Remastered.

Players can enjoy ladder with friends and strangers without the need for the latter to have bought the mod.

The visual artistic style of the mod is on par with CarbotAnimations videos. Every unit, building, UI, you name it, even the briefing rooms have been recreated in the image of CarbotAnimations.

The mod, like StarCraft: Remastered, isn't free but the core game is through Battle.net (which can be accessed signing in or up on their main site: Blizzard Entertainment):

CarbotAnimations is known to make various 2D short animation videos based on Blizzard Entertainment game universes, their first uploaded video being set in the first StarCraft game's universe:

CarbotAnimations has also released such a mod in 2016 for StarCraft II called StarCrafts Mod, free of charge.

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is free and so is the Arcade which this mod is played through.

To play StarCrafts Mod:
  1. Download StarCraft II for free here: Blizzard Entertainment
  2. Once it's installed go to the Arcade tab and search "Star Crafts Mod" (*note: there is a space between Star and Crafts, the search engine is kind of specific so that's important).
Quick start if StarCraft II is already installed:
  • North America: battlenet:://starcraft/map/1/279403
  • Europe: battlenet:://starcraft/map/2/195516
  • Asia (Korea/Taiwan): battlenet:://starcraft/map/3/110625
  • Southeast Asia: battlenet:://starcraft/map/6/25176
StarCrafts Mod features an original soundtrack by Gianni Chiarparini which can be found on iTunes.

Yeah because it's official but I wouldn't say it's all Blizzard just yet.

2 founders and most senior staff have left.

Beggining of 2019 activison sent one of their CFOs there to take over xutting costs and she bailed for a more lucrative deal elsewhere.

However we have more then enough info in recent year . Blizzards #1 priority is customer explotation in the modern day which is the motto of their parent company aswell.

It doesnt need to be danced around considering the how predominant this topic has become in recent years with the fabulous customer explotation
EA, Ubisoft, 2k, WarnerBrothers, take 2, Activision Blizzard, Bethesda Softworks has contributed to the industry as of late.

Maybe you are right and it was the "only" way to port it as a mod on this older game since it might have been easier on SCII, hence why it was done free.
Or Blizzard just commissioned CarbotAnimations to do the mod.

Just shows that people will buy anything associated with blizzard brand, regardless of quality.

As I personally will never pay for Remastered nor for Cartooned, I would appreciate that Blizzard does not pre-download any paid content for any of their games. The StarCraft Anthology data folder is shock full of stuff I will never run (=> more than 4GB of wasted HDD space imho).

Starting with Patch 1.23.0, Blizzard removed the legacy MPQ files along with the original Editor; but because Cartooned got forced down our throats HDDs at the same time, there is overall no HDD footprint gain for the computer user. At some point in the future, the 32-bit version of the game will be gone for good, hopefully saving overall another 100 MB of data and executable code. Maybe.

The StarCraft Team already has published their official roadmap for 2019, and unfortunately I am guessing this is not part of what they will consider, since I am understanding they already have their hands full:
2019 Priorities - StarCraft General discussion Forums

Off-topic: Now, if only the WC3 Team could do the same...
Does StarCraft get all the love and communication efforts and hotfixes, or what?
