Hi Lord Of Chaos 201 here

I've got a simple question. I have a spell book that has multiple instances of shadow strike, with slight variations. when I cast shadow strike 1 it uses shadow strike 4 instead. how do I get the spell I selected to work without the game confusing it for one of its simular base spells?

You have many instances of Shadow Strike, the solution is rather simple. You should change the Order String of each Shadow Strike. You cannot have two spells with the same Order String on a single hero, it causes a conflict of sorts.

Does not work. That only works for the channel ability.

Also, remember that Spell such as Shadow Strike have buffs that will not stack: Casting Shadow Strike 2 on the target hit by Shadow Strike 1 will remove the damage over time effect of Shadow Strike 1. Changing the buff does nothing, it is hard-coded into the spells.

I am talking about the one and only Channel ability, not channeling spells in general. Channel can be set to target most things: single targets or AOE, its the only spell that has customize-able target settings that actually reliably work.

Don't know how efficent it is, but there is a way to do it with spellbooks:

1. create the 4 different spells you want in your spellbook
2. Put every spell in a different spellbook (so 4 spellbooks with different spell each)
3. Put the SPELLBOOKS from point 2. into another general spellbook
4. Go to triggers, and disable the spellbooks of point 2 for the player
Edit: you add the general spellbook to the unit

Only problem is that you can't really decide your spells position inside the "general" spellbook.

Example (hopefully working):

nope. The ones you can edit in Channel is the one that are level-based order, not the base order of Channel

oh and btw, Channel is not the best for dummy units, because you can't order dummy units to cast Channel-based abilities. It is, however, the best spell as basis of all spells.
