A poke function, give people a delay of 30 seconds or a minute before they can poke again to avoid annoyance or just make it so they can't poke again til they got poked back.

It would benefit a lot of the hive I am sure, look at how it benefited Facebook.

We had a chat command called ding in the past which was basically a poke, but it was removed.

I was hopeing for this to go outside of chat, it would come in handy to get the attention of others your trying too instead of spamming VM's or PM's.

Plus mapmakers can always use a break and poke eachother for a while on an awesome site for Wc3.

IF you were to add an option to disable pokes, then sure, why not. It'd be just like the current rep system, some people like using it, some people don't and just disable it.

This is technically speaking a feature that makes you check periodically if something was received from the server.
That is how the Hive's chat works. If you want it, why not join the chat instead?

The Poke back function's broken?

Poking is fun! And it would help raise moral during this difficult time, you don't just have to use it for poking though, the one on FB has a "Give Cake" option and a "Hug" option. Everyone likes cake...

Just don't call it "Poke" because new users who are intelligent would come and say "Oh my, Poke? What is this? Facebook? I bet some child in a 3rd world country made this. Such filth. Terrible, Terrible I say." and they would just be off in search of another site.

I think we should implement a personal chat, which shows all your friends who are online, and it should pop up and make an annoying sound if someone writes to you. I also think we should add a news feed for everyone on their profile, we've already got the "what you did today". Now it is time to take it one step further! Another good function could be to be able to "watch" someone, so we are able to know when they've uploaded a new resource. And while we're at it, I believe we should be able to tag each other in our album pictures. It is time for a change here I say!

no-one wants to be poked for no reason and no-one likes when tagged in, say.. someone's bmp.pooo, without actually wanting it

and that is exactly what most of the people on facebook do

Honestly, this feature would be terrible. Why would you want to poke somebody with no context at all?
I can understand if we renamed PMs to Poke Messages which actually contained a message and therefore hopefully a reason for bothering.

The punch message blacks out their screen as if they had been punched in the eye
