Grab an MPQ app in the tools section of Hive. Then open up the original MPQ (war3.mpq I think). Find the models, extract them, and import them into your map. Alternatively, I think WEU has them readily available from the select model screen.

more simple:
choose "Reign of Chaos" in the 'sup version' field under the 'model file' in the object editor

tFT models overwrite the RoC one by using the same path, this field force wc3 to use the model in the mpq of your choice, war3.mpq in this case (i don't find any use to force the tFT version because it is the default one anyway)

i have an issure regarding this topic.... why does some of the models not work and become unreadable for RoC stand-alone and RoC world editor stand-alone (meaning they are run without installed tft on them)?

The Gyrocopter and the Flying Machine are very similar. Place a Flying Machine on the map, and jump between the Object Editor (don't forget to change the model version as you did for Steam Tank and the others) and the Terraining Editor. Look carefully, and you'll see that they have few differences.
