Should i buy new Graphic?

I was wondering....i have a 9600GT 512mb and it cant run Oblivion with LOD turned on(that includes trees and buildings) I am thinking to buy a 9800GT 1GB Golden sample, will it be able to run Oblivion with LOD? and it doesn't have to run crysis on ultra high, because i hate that game, boring and million of bugs. What powersuplay should i buy to run that graphic? I have 2GB ram, do i need more? in my option i would buy 2GB rams more, so that i can have 4GB.

I don't think that "9800GTX 1GB Golden sample" exists. I've never heard of it, and I can't find any trace of it through google. Did you mean the 9800GT 1GB Golden Sample, or the 9800 GTX 1GB?

Yeah, something's wrong if that card can't run oblivion. Perhaps it's a driver issue.

I also doubt it's the RAM, however I'd suggest buying two more GB, simply because it's pretty cheap these days.

Graphics card? Get a Geforce295GTX. Currently the best on the market I believe. Although, it is crap without an I7 and DDR3. 4gigs of ram is pretty cheap also.

So-

Geforce295 = 300$

I7 core = 250$

Decent motherboard = 250$

4gigs of ram = 100$ (Assuming you are running 32 bit. Being as how 32 bit windows can only register 4gigs of ram. But 64 bit windows, while unstable, can run 8gigs of ram.)

Decent widescreen monitor = 150$

Decent Box with over 50mm fans = 100$

750watt power box = 100$

Other accessories = 100$

TOTAL = around 1250$ Pretty cheap eh? I love this rig personally.

About the I7. I know there are 3 different versions. I gave the cheapest one's price. The reason I stated the cheapest one, is because the most expensive one is not much better. Yet, it is 1000$. lol

But, all you want is a new graphics card. I suggest the Geforce295GTX. Very powerful.

BUT! I found a sweet graphics card for a very cheep price. Radeon3800. I know it is only the 8th best graphics card. BUT! It is cheap. And, it is way better than the Geforce8800. I would compare it to the Geforce260GTX.

Btw, here is a list of Geforce Graphics cards- Graphics Cards Buy Now

As you can see, the Geforce 8800Ultra is still almost the best. Don't be fooled by the fact that the 9800 is a higher number. BUT! As you can also see, the 9800GX2 is a pretty sweet card as well

Anyway, these are just my opinions. I hope that helped.

i7 isn't mainstream, and, particularly given it's DDR3, not a good price point. Particularly since your computer still has plenty of life.

Don't upgrade to a 9800 from a 9600. I'd say GX 280+ or don't bother. And get another 2 GB of RAM, it's dirt cheap (make sure you end up dual channel - this may mean buying two new 2 GB sticks, but that's like $50 these days).

qft

I have my doubts that he can afford any of the GPUs stated, and he wanted to fix oblivion, not build a new computer. Let's stay on topic.

I heard about that graphic :D its really cool and all that, but its expensive(400-500Eruo).

I heard that on 9800GT GS can run crysis more then 40 frames. i have 4 slots for the ram, so i will be buying 8ram 2+2+2+2=8 and i will need a better suplay power for the graphic. I dont think that i will buy the GF295GTX it sounds cool, but nah(300$)...and stay on topic, i bought a new comp all ready so, i dont need one. I just need to build my computer more.

Suggestion: Should i buy a 22inch Full HD wide screen monitor? i think its around 200Eura(i have a 16inch computer 4:3)

Indeed the 295 is an awesome card. Running sli? Even more so.

It's funny how we used to have giant boxes with only 10mb. Now we have 3mm chips with 500gigs worth on them. hehe

Amazing since a 7800GS 256MB with 1.5 GB ram, a 3 GHZ P4 was able to run TES oblivion at almost max with LOD on (before my PC became as slow as a snail like it is now) at that same RES.

I would tend to say it is your RAM, especially if your using VISTA that would probably be the problem.

And what do you mean by can not run? If it crashes then eithor your hardware is defective or else your Gram / main RAM is overloaded (full) so it crashes. If you mean it runs very chopilly (laggy / at a low FPS) then that is probably due to the grass view distance. Unless you are using an 8800, 9800 or 280+, it is unadvisable to have grass view distance at max, it should be set very low to be exact.

The 9800 will completly max the game (ingame settings) at an even higher resolution with atleast 4 if not 8 times AA enabled via your nvidia drivers as well as max AF.
I can assure you this as my bros 8800GT runs the game with all ingame settings at maximum, + some visual and loading enhancements + AA forced on at 4* and gets 30 FPS outside with 60 fps inside.

You can also tune the setings via a text editor outside the game to better use multi cores by enabling as much of the threading options as posiable. These may not at first noticably improve speed however they will reduce the ammount the FPS falls due to process intensive tasks as well as boost overall system preformance while running the game (not to sure about the last one thou).

Make sure you patch the game with the offical free patches. Some of them improve visual quality as well as preformance and prevent crashes.

Except upgrading from a 9600 GT to a 3800 is really a waste of time and money? The performance difference isn't worth it.

lol good point. But, the difference is a bit large. And it's only 50$! Also, it isn't much of a waist of time....Just order it. Takes 2 minutes.

Anyway, 4 gig of ram can get you a lot. It isn't very expensive either.

And, may I ask, are you running 32bit or 64bit?
