Save/Load after updating a map?

I don't know if this has been asked before or not but here is the problem :

I want to know if it's possible to keep a save file (in the Game Menu) as it is after updating a map? cause I noticed that after I update my map that old save does no longer work.

So can I still keep that save or do I have to restart from the beggining?

It's probably possible but I wouldn't know without looking into it. I'm sure some sort of save converter could be made.

Well I did mean with the knowledge/tools currently available.

The workaround is to use some sort of save/load system but as I said, the existing systems are not good enough to load everything.
