I know you can rotate doodads after placing them, but is there any way to do this with units (units have facing point, but how to change that inside WE, w/o need to do it later with a trigger)?
Pressing Ctrl + Right click to the point you want them to face. I don't get it though; if you know how to rotate doodads, how come you can't rotate units? ;]
building facing angle can be changed in the gameplay constants afaik
for all other units either doubleclick them and set some facing angle (in degrees)
or select a group of units press ctrl and click any point on the map to make them face that point
go to "Advanced - Gameplay Constants - Building Facing Angle"
you can give some buildings a "root" ability so you can have 2 different global facing angles
