Protection W3 Map Optimizer
If you do have any question about this map, register on the official homepage.
I share everything I do, through map open source or systems posted on the board.
The reason the map file is protected is only because of the optimisation which grants a lighter map and, overall, a faster loading time.
As a consequence, this prevent noob-hackers to generate codes.

The map
This map is between a Hero Survivor and an ORPG.
Pick your Hero class, do the quests and try to survive. You may be able to save your experience and the medals earned during the game.
Experience gives you bonus and grants access to more Hero classes.
The story of the map is about the Restricted Complex 601, a private giant-laboratory owned by the Thanatos Industries. It's a global firm leading researches on weapons,

biology, physic...
The RC601 is an underground complex [The first version ever I made was in that complex, but for many reason, I changed it to a game happening on the surface]
Players will be requested to take care of a zombie threat and to follow the orders of their employers.




Game Modes

Story
A mode with more than 50 quests, randomly generated or depending on the success the last quest the team did. Through a game up to 16 quests are playable.
Missions will alternate between base or unit defence, scout, escort, protection, search and destroy...
There are 3 chapters, each one with a final boss (added to the several boss spawned each quest end).

Survival
The team will have to survive to several waves of creeps with an increasing difficulty. Basically, this is a pure survival mode without any other thing to do than survive.

Last stand
The objective is to defend a database in a random base until the army arrives to fight a last boss.

Assault
The objective is to search and destroy NPC bases; there, the players will fight against creeps and NPC.

Team Deathmatch
Same than deathmatch, but players are divided into 2 teams.

Trophy Hunt
The objective is to keep a flag and prevent the opposite team to keep its own flag

A Bridge Too Far
Mode removed.


Difficulty
Training
Not available at the moment

Normal
The basic settings. Normal creeps.

Nightmare
It is like Normal mode with harder creeps (+10 damage and +50% health points, +20% chances to spawn special waves etc.)

Insane
Harder than nightmare; a lot of special waves, more boss or miniboss, creeps with a second upgrade...


Quests
-Complete Quest Trees with random/conditions to make each game different
-Each quest has its own universe of creeps (combinations several unit types)
-Each quest get its own boss
-Each quest success brings experience. If the quest can be failed, and that players fail it, you will not get experience but get an other quest.
-Efficient AI for creeps, allied units and non-hero units to avoid micro-manage. Creeps are able to act with some intelligence (heal, dodge-jump etc).
A part of the creeps will patrol into the direction of the current quest objective, and the other will directly follow the living heroes.
-Proportional difficulty: the more the experience average between players, the harder the game is (Creeps statistic will be improved and chance to get special waves will be

raised)


Heroes
-several heroes with many spells and a different gameplay for each one.
-Each hero has a spellbook with shared abilities
-Each hero has its specific spell tree with up to 16 skills
-Each hero has a different role and gameplay
-Heroes are unlocked if the loaded code provides a rank enough high.


Save System
-Save and load your experience. This allows you to change of hero each game (and avoid a boring unique character).
-Experience brings up to 20 ranks.
-Each rank provides a general bonus (health, mana regeneration, move and attack speed)
-Ranks unlock hero class.
-There is a medal system (since 1.27) for the best players (which also adds little bonus); medals are granted through the achievements of some special stuffs during the game.


Realistic Equipment
Since 1.09 there is no more one weapon/unit and one ammo-type per unit. NPC no longer have limited ammo, excepted they need to reload.
This mean the weapon is "hidden" (no more item to stock in the inventory) for Heroes, and all units have the same ammo-type (item type) they can load or drop from their weapon.
It is less realistic but after a lot of tests, it makes the game less complicated.
Units can carry up equipment, grenades, explosives, weapons...


Dozen systems
-A weather changing during the game
-A story displayed through texts with various speakers
-The possibility to drive a lot of vehicles
-Dozen items which can be combined, consumed, some being class-restricted etc
-Various kinds of explosives

Restricted Complex 601 is organized around a quest trees: you will not play all quests in a game, but only some of them.
Then, the quest you will get will change depending your last quest was a success, a fail, or, sometimes, an other random choice.

Claudeff, are you sure you have the right code?
Also, I found it confusing at first loading in RC601, since the successful load message is "Load Code Correct", which is rather close to "Load Code Incorrect" and at a glance it's easy to confuse the two.
That said, I can't even play the map at all. Which is rather a pain in the ass. Some help in that regards would be nice because I think the map is promising and I'd love to see more of it.

When someone die it would be good if we could watch other players play the game and not stay locked at a fixed place. . .

I was the first to die and i was the host so it was bad for me =\

There are typos for the Armored Soldiers spells called heavy shield and gravity shield; invulnerable is spelt unvulnerable in the description, most spells have the word invulnerable spelt wrong. On one of the intro's briefing is spelt brieffing. Also, there's something you must do.. FIX THE LEAKS THAT CAUSE THE MAP TO RANDOMLY LAG AT THE END OF THE GAME!!

Erm... I played this map and asked my self.. What the hell was that?

Con -2: The terrain is herrendous.
Con -1: The gameplay is poor it's ridiculously unbalanced.
Con -2: The dialogue was so bad it was funny. At the beginning of the game one of the soldiers said "They will rape us!" and another replied "For the fallens!" correct me if I'm wrong but that doesn't sound very realistic.
Con -1: I guess this would be considered 'gameplay' but the abilities are pretty random, like why would a security guard leap into the air into a pile of zombies and stun them? That doesn't sound like something I would do in real life. Zombie shooters shouldn't have Melee type abilities.

When you're making a map like this try and make it as realistic as possible. In short think of what you would do.. Or what a real group of soldiers, security guards, zombies etc.. Would do.
Now as for the good aspects.

Pro +1: Save\Load System.
Pro +2: Loads of Classes\Heroes.
Pro +1: Original storyline.
Pro +1: Fun missions.

I think the Cons outweigh the Pros at this point. This is not a negative attempt to crush your map but an attempt to help you do better. Right now this map gets a 2\5 rating from me.

@Light Bolt30: "Spelt" is spelled... Spelled... I think you should brush up on your Grammar before becoming a consultant.

Hey guy, 1.66 First bug(or not) report.

I've start with worse pilot. when its reach 30% the horde are stopped move.(i use iseedeadpeople to view them)
what going on?

Updated with more screenshots.

Actually, the "terrain" are already gameplay screenshots since they are commands to rotate camera. I go through W3 Editor cause it"s easier to do than in game (in order not to be killed :p)

Probleme with screenshots: i'm not able to screenshot the bullets: they are too fast.

Ofc you can screenshots bullets. Just make projectile speed lower and you will be able to screenshot xD

Good map, not the type I like, but that's not the reason to rate it low...

really confusing game, half the time you will be running around the map and be confused about what to do and most of the time you will be just be confused. the pace is extremely fast and uncomfortable to play in. situations of following someone may be hard as the npc will just sprint and ignore creeps while you may get ambushed by a large mob or boss and several missions of gathering items have such a short time and so much to gather that you may not be able to finish despite the amount of players playing.

conclusion: THE GAMEPLAY IS VERY CONFUSING but the action itself is okay

AMAZING MAP.. i see. Quests is good, and the idea of choosing heroes is nice. Well i give you 5.5/5 !:goblin_good_job::goblin_good_job::goblin_good_job: Keep up the good work, dude. Sorry, but this is the biggest piece of crap i've ever seen, because of disbalance, a lot of standart models, skins ect. Generaly: what you have done exept quests and icons for skills? And the last thing that pissed me off: why jump skill make my hero just slide?! Why this doesn't lift my hero in air, are you jumping real life like your hero in this map? Why my pistol takes bullets from my rifle, wattafuck? Is it high quality map or piece of bull's crap? I advise you to take some good ideas from ZAF, because your map sucks at this moment, upgrade it!

Well, I have to agree and disagree.
They are unbalance for the new things (since I add new things each update), but not for old ones. More, the community itself help to balance the game, and, contrary to the first month of this map, now, half the things done are proposed by players and made with my own way of thinking.

Now, I have to disagree. Half the models and skins are importations. Even if this should not matter for a game (cause it raises the size of the map), they are more than 120 custom models used in this map :p

Quests: yes, it's a good part of the code. (More than 50 quests); but this map IS made to play quests.
Secondly: I made arround 200 custom spells. Not a lot, but quite enough with the current 41 playable heroes.
And the last thing that pissed me off: why jump skill make my hero just slide?! Why this doesn't lift my hero in air, are you jumping real life like your hero in this map?
It's not a real life jump. Soldiers are wearing armors. It's a bit like a minijetpack.
And a really important point: I do NOT care of realism in some situations. There is the only rule I follow:
My opinion > Community opinion > Gameplay > Background > Realism.
Why my pistol takes bullets from my rifle, wattafuck?
The first versions get a complete system with 1 ammo type per weapon type. I removed this sytem for the gameplay; even if it is not realist, it make the gameplay better. Community discussed it a lot (http://www.jk2pach.com) before I finally accept to use the same thing than NOTD-Aftermath, which is, to my mind, the best zombie survival ever.

This question is pure rethoric, it's a judgement. You thing the map is bad, of course, I would not spend as much time on it if I thought I made a "bull's crap".
I advise you to take some good ideas from ZAF, because your map sucks at this moment, upgrade it!
If you read ZAF topic, I already played it, dude, and rated it 5/5. I already talked to the author as I proposed a marketing alliance.

So, thanks for giving you opinion. But since you are the only one thinking this, and more, than the things you are hating are opposed to what the community proposed, I will not take care of it, sorry dude.

Anyway, I'm still not against suggestions, but I work with my website only (it is easier for me and the current players).

P.S. WC3 have a lot of arcade modern survival maps (even with quests), so why your map is better? If you cannot prove it, then you will be eaten by other mapmakers, do not be so pathetic about users.
P.P.S. Sorry for being rude in first comment, but i'm realy disappointed with map, because it CAN be the best map, but you need to work a little bit harder. Understand me? A LITTLE bit...

1.) He's working on both his map and his website, and he seems to magically manage them both pretty flawlessly.
2.) He may post it here. It directly relates to his map, and when he provided the link, it was to help you understand.
3.) He showed no disrespect towards players in anyway. At all. I'm actually quite sure he respects anybody that plays his map. I would.

1.) If you only like realism in a map that's fine by us. Just remember, you're playing a fantasy game, so you can't expect all too much realism. But yes, I see what you mean.
2.) I don't see why he would just forget your words because you're not a fan of his map now. All you've done is said how bad you think his map is. So you not becoming a fan suddenly reverses your opinion that his map sucks? :?

Hm...
1.) Indeed WC3 does have a lot of maps of this type. Each one being different than the next. Whether for better or for worse. He could provide reasons why his is better, but in the end people will disagree or agree based on what they think. Not what jk2pach thinks. So, just play this map, play others, and decide for yourself why it is better. Okay?
2.) Only rude mapmakers would "eat him alive". Actually this map is quite superb, and any mapmaker would agree that it is definitely not "a piece of crap". So, not only would they have no reason to eat him alive, but nobody is that rude. Well, so we hope.
3.) How is he being so "pathetic about users"? Do you know the definition of pathetic? It doesn't appear you do. This statement makes no sense, and is therefore invalid.

This statement kept you from a -1 rep. Thank you for realizing how you may have stated things meanly. Please, in the future, be nicer. this is your official warning. There are nicer ways to say things than you think. Take this post for an example, I could have just said "You're wrong. You're opinion is stupid, and everybody disagrees with you. Go learn proper English." That'd be absolutely mean, and inappropriate. It would also be unhelpful, and I hope that this post is anything but that.

1.) I don't think there is any definable "best" map. I mean, everybody has their own personal likes and dislikes, so not every single person in the world would be able to agree on a definable "best" map.
2.) You called this map a "piece of crap", you said you were "no longer a fan of it" and you implied that you can't even figure out why this map is so much better than others of it's type. So how could it be the "best" map with a "little" work? How? Do you consider the current "best" map a piece of crap too? Or do you just like to speak nonsense?

If you take nothing else from this post, be nicer to users. There's always a better way to say things.
