I don't think it does, as it would require going through the database and adding rep to every user you've repped, thereby increasing their rep, which may cause their rep power to go up a level causing a possible chain reaction.

x = y + 1
y = x + 1
x = y + 1
...

Not quite that fast, but you can see what happens when values depend on each other.

I think rep is just more like a way of saying thank you...it's why your supposed to leave comments. it's not a way to look better with more jewels and as a thing of status as much as it is showing appreciated. Most people wouldn't care if they it didn't add the rep-they'd be fine seeing you were satisfied at what they helped with.

hmm. I never thought of rep that way. I was thinking rep was supposed to be a system for Other people to see if you've been helpful to anyone or not.

That's why people make 'rep requirements' for things, is it not? to make sure they get people who are able to contribute?

your idea is pretty good, but it wouldn't explain rep as prizes for comps. I think they jut might be for well, reputation, as opposed to for appreciation.

I dunno. if you're right then this makes sense but a bunch of other things (rep prizes) do not. if you're wrong, this does Not make sense, but things such as rep prizes do.

confusing. :p

AFter that comment I'd have to say its a combination of both :p

I completely forgot about rep req etc!

Don't you need 200 rep?

That last sentence is false. It should be:

"A couple of people don't care about rep, while the vast majority do care." :xxd:

Except people who come here, ask a question or two, then leave.

I do appreciate rep. Not so much the amount, but the satisfaction of knowing people enjoyed my work, or appreciated my help. So I guess it's the comments not the number for me.

I'm starting to care less about rep, cause I've been considering leaving wc3 over the past week. If i do though, it won't be until i finish my 2 ongoing projects. the thing is, I like hive, and I like modding, but standard wc3 maps got boring for me after a few days, and I now only like custom maps, but almost never have anyone to play them with because I don't like DoTa. honestly I'm considering switching back to nwn or nwn2 when my projects are done. the multiplayer on those games rock.

I'll probably still hang out here to chat but I doubt ill do the modding and such that I have been lately when im done, and I probably won't play much wc3 anymore. I'm really an rpg guy. . .

and i really prefer pen and paper rpgs to videogames. they're more social. I still like videogames, but I like pen and paper games more. I actually hadn't played videogames for about 8 months before i picked up wc3, and i picked up wc3 cause i couldn't find a D&D group. and even if i do find one, i dont see myself finding another one that can play 16 hours of D&D a week, 8 hours with 1 dm and 8 with another. on 2 different days.
