Ranking leader system

Yeah, i'm making a map. and it involves either <I'm not sure yet> Units with or without locust following a wisp, the leader, this is to be able to control over 12 units at a time. what i'm probably going to do, <The easiest way> Is not give them locust, and then let your wisp use an ability, <Add unit to squad> then the units follow the wisp in formation. So a brief understanding of what i want

Captain uses spell.

Spell being cast Add unit to squad

Order unit to Follow in formation <Casting unit>

What should i do to achieve this?

AND I KNOW FOLLOW IN FORMATION ISN'T A USABLE ACTION. Just so you know. i dont want any comments like "Your problem is that Follow in formation isn't an action, noob!" k?

As far as i know units move in formation if you make them one unitgroup and order the unitgroup to move somewhere
