Yeah, automatic clean-up would be useful, either like you described or deleting old PMs when the inbox is full to make space for new ones. I didn't investigate, but it might be an idea to implement an archive to store important PMs in so they won't be deleted should a wave of spam-PMs come.

Nah, important PMs from the olden age may get deleted that way. Not good.

Also, if you're getting 500 messages every week, get the MSN/Skype of the dude you communicate with. My girlfriend and mother combined don't send me that many when I'm abroad.

And ye. There's the VMs too, can't run out of those. Make them visible to contacts only and there, you have the desired privacy.

1.) I get 50 messages a week. Still I need to clean up my inbox.
2.) You can't import/export vms.
3.) I would like to allow everyone to write vms.

wow 50 pr week ur a popular man, you get more in a month that I got from the entire time I have been here from the beginning. I get like 1-2 pr week if I'm lucky, mostly from complete strangers. I still haven't figure out what the word "comcels" is pointing too.

Automatic cleanup would be nice. Also a possible archive if possible.

1.) Takes two clicks. Doing that every ten weeks doesn't break your hands. >_>
2.) You can, lol. Select, ctrl+c, ctrl+v in notepad or word OR you could ask Ralle to implement another entirely unnecessary function to complete that purpose. :p
3.) Same shit tbh, everyone can write PMs as it is and it's not like anyone but you are interested in your own messages. :|

If an automatic cleanup is implemented then there should be an option to disable it.

What if I want it to conserve a certain message and auto-delete the others?

(Note: Copying it into a text file doesn't count for the aim of this thread, apparently rewiring VB coding is easier.)

An automated cronjob would do even less harm to me.

See above.

What? I don't want the other users to be able to see private talk about stuff thats going on in my development teams.

Your answers aren't a solution at all.

Am I lazy? I have to delete messages on every forum that I am every week and dude I have more things to do.

xD

Exactly because of that reason was I trying to find out if there's an actual base of arguments backing up your proposal. See, the part of the staff competent at VB modding (Ghan and Ralle) obviously have better things to do than tinker with the forum structure just because the amazing Anachron has better things to do than click "User CP->Edit Folders->Empty Folder", three buttons, really.

Typing this proposal up and lowering yourself down to my level just to argue probably equals the stress of emptying your mails for a whole year too. :/

I actually rather liked the idea of having the amount somewhat depending on reputation/post count.

Its not that big of a deal, since one can always just delete some messages.. but others is preferred to be kept. And over time those increases.. so even though a fill up doesn't occur that often, it might be useful. Though it will be on less then 1 out of 100 in importance..

A side note: I rather have that the 90% limit thing was removed.. dunno if it was just an error, but I experienced at one point, that I couldn't receive/Send messages when it was 90% full, which I found to be odd, since it wasn't 100% full.

Anyway, over and out.

Ah, yes. Discussing what would be good without taking steps towards implementing it into reality is a common election policy.

Serves no concrete purpose but makes you look like you have something to say.

Yep, and does give one the hope that someday, someone will stumble upon this hidden treasure and use it for the good of all mankind.

You can create folders and put important PMs in there. Then every now and again you can just wipe everything in your inbox.

I'm pretty sure the capacity has been 500 messages for a while. I mean, I've got 186 PMs currently and I have not received 86 PMs after I was promoted.

I don't understand why there isn't just a spam folder, and a regular folder.. The regular folder keeps the ones you want to keep and the spam folder auto-cleans itself. All recieved messages go to spam.. But can be moved to the regular folder. 'Nough said.

@TheTopTwoPosts: I also have 500 maximum allowed.. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say 'Doesn't everyone?'.
