To use local files put your files into a specified directory inside your warcraft III folder eg C:\\Program Files\Warcraft III\MyMapsDir\MyOwnSecretModel.mdx
Now open object editor( Remember you haven't imported it in ) select Footman. Open Art - Model File and you will see 3 ways of adding a model path( Preset, Imported, Custom ) select custom and write in the path. You can choose from 2 path model, setting it to C:\\Program Files\Warcraft III\MyMapsDir\MyOwnSecretModel.mdx or MyMapsDir\MyOwnSecretModel.mdx. The second one is better because users can install their warcraft into different directories or disks. Now you become amazed because your model will work however you havent imported it. Be careful! Other players must have the resources in the right directory( MyMapsDir\MyOwnSecretModel.mdx ) or it will not be shown. Also you have to install warcraft clean, mean you have to have the original registry settings. It can be changed manually.
