Blizzard trees = no, use custom tree models;
Blizzard cliffs = no, shape the ground manually;
Theme? I don't see any;
Now when you start a terrain you need to strive for three main things:
- Originality
- Theme
- Doodad placement
Your terrain is generic, mediocre. For a terrain to be recognized and referred to as a piece of art, it has to be outstanding, out of the ordinary.
Remember this.
Most people will tell you not to use Blizzard's cliffs and I agree they do not always look best. For someone new I suggest not using them and instead using height variation using raise/lower and smoothing it out to get a nice effect. Try getting some shrubs/bush doodads in there to help add some more detail.
He has a theme going (Camp in The Forest/Waterfall) its just got to be expanded on and taken a step further.
That looks terrible.
The ground fog, the doodads, the water, the background fog... everything is just wrong.
You should change the pathing of your doodads so that you can cram em together more (give them the barrel pathing if you want them to have any at all) and work on everything. Check out other people's terrain etc.
You can switch pathing in object editor on doodads and destructables.
To see the pathing press "P", blue means its unbuildable, purple means you cant walk there...
