Read some tutorials. Look at other peoples work (I suggest MadseN or Correx). Do not use Blizzard Cliffs.
The first one isn't half bad for a start. Needs a better camera angle. Hold Ctrl and right click. You can drag around and move the camera in the WE.
The second is pretty bad. No tile variation, due to the cliffs, and hardly any doodads. You need to use WAY more doodads.
