Placing lots of doodads in the same spot

This is somewhat of a terraining question. I have a high cliff with pathing blockers set up and some big boulders as shown in the picture.
Now I need to place a lot of other doodads in this area to fix visibility due to the cliff being created with Raise tool and not the normal cliffs.

1) Visibility blockers inside the boulders so they properly block line of sight. This is actually hard to do when the boulder hides the doodad you place within it.
2) Cliff level 1 invisible platforms so that visibility from below the cliff to above is restricted but not vice versa. This will have to go on top of the whole upper level if I am not mistaken!?

These are a lot of doodads to place and they will all be in the same locations. I am wondering if there is any trick people are using to do this. Is it possible for example to hide some doodads while placing others? How do people go around placing lots of helper doodads in such situations?

I think you can only hide all doodads with ctrl+d.
You could still see the pathing if you press P so you have some idea of where the pathing blockers are.
