Paintball TD

About me:
I am a very skilled Jasser, capable of producing top-quality spells and systems (I don't mean to brag, but search for my name in the spell section and you will find my Advanced Arrow Key Movement system and also my Gravity Ball spell, both of which have been approved with 4 and 5/5 ratings). Recently, I have become interested in using my skills to make something worthwhile, a very good map for everyone to enjoy, so I decided to begin work on Paintball TD, as TDs are one of my favourite styles of map and I believe I can produce a very high quality TD map.


Introduction to the map:
Paintball TD - originally meant to be based on the flash game "Gemcraft", an innovative style of TD which I wanted to reproduce in Wc3, although my various ideas to turn it into a paintball map have made the idea become distorted to the point of being barely recognisable - will be a new generation of tower defense in Wc3, where the player will be able to place paintballers, who are able to be equipped with various paintball guns, loaded with various colours of paint. There will be one main tower which can build paintballers and barricades (yes, that's right, no builder that has to traipse across the map in order to build things, it's all done instantly via some special abilities. In addition to the traditional build area, Paintball TD will also contain a Paintball Factory, where your guns and actual paintballs are made. There will then be an option to equip your towers with the paintball guns.

Feautures:
-Build-your-own-maze style of TD, no lame no-strategy-whatsoever prebuilt mazes.
-Completely original method of arming and upgrading towers.
-Custom missile system with more features than the in-built blizzard one.
-Cost increases with each tower built, meaning you can't build too many towers, which prevents lag caused by custom missile system
-Mix up paint to alter the effect of your guns.
-Special equippables, such as net guns and paint grenades.

What I Need From You:
-At some point during the making of this project, I shall need someone to make (or find) for me attachment/item models for different guns, and also buckets of paint, complete with icons, although these can wait, as the project is still fairly early in the development process.

-Finally, suggestions for map content. Anything (within reason) goes, as, as previously stated, the map is still fairly early in development and any idea could be integrated.

I hope people take interest in this and give me plenty of suggestions and, once the map is released, plenty of bug reports.

Cool! A paintball TD! It sounds rather cool so far! I really hope to test it ASAP.
A suggestion I thought of. Maybe you could add a kind of item that water :S. Basically, its a super cheap equipment to splash damage (yeah water!). If you have too much paint, the thingy won't splash, too compact XD. So maybe water can be used to dilute it or something like that. It makes the attacks deal less damage but splash or something.
Also, are there paint guns like Double Barreled Paint Gun and stuff like that? That would be awesome XD

It might be a while before it's ready to test, but yeah, you can be a beta tester when it reaches that stage if you want.

i really like tghe idea of equipping your towers with a new paintgun to upgrade. does that mean there will only be one type of tower (the dude tower), and then everything is dteremined by the gun?

one tip:
Make different types of bullets:
Blue bullets gives 10%slow on units.
Red bullets gives +10 damage.
Green bullets gives - def to the target
Pink bullets gives +1 gold to the player IF the unit is killed by the bullet
Orange bullets add 20% attack speed
Diamond bullets +15 dmg, -3 armor, +1 gold and 15% attack speed.

Sure, you can be a tester, and yes, everything is determined by the gun, there will only be one attacking tower, though I have added barricades to help with mazing.

You obviously didn't read the the first post properly did you? You'll be able to load the paintball guns with different colours of paint, which you can blend and stuff at the paintball factory. Each colour will have a different effect.

Thanks for the enthusiasm, though, and thanks for helping me with what different colours can do (though I probably won't include diamond)

Ahem, not until my terrain gets done well lol.

BTW, how does the Missle System work? Is it like hit-first-unit in line or something?
I've not done it yet, but I think I'm going to add several options, like target first in line, target weakest, target back of the line, etc.

ok any theme? i can do:
extemely happy, nice fluffy friendly woodland or ruined city with corpses and fires, or a dunegon or a costal forest... and IF you have me do paths are the all the same? and how big are they? could you be more specific or do you want me to wing it and see how it comes out?

I prefer happy, nice fluffy woodland for Paintball TD :D. But no, no paths, just areas where players can can build. Separate areas for each player. And yeah, just go with what your instincts tell you and I can tell you what (if anything) needs to change when you've done it. Thanks!
 
Great - just 3 problems:
1. That stream looks ugly with blizzard cliffs. Either do it with rolling shores or take it out altogether.

2. There's no obvious place in in each area where the creeps should either spawn or have to get to to get through and make you lose a life.

3. The player should be able to build right up to a straight edge in each area. I suggest using unbuildable tiles at the edge (of course vary them).

+Rep now for trying, but as of yet it's not right for a TD.

An idea for one of the (weapons/units/etc.) could be a guy who (shoots/fires/throws) paint gernades perhaps? Also, some kind of paint trap, Maybe? Anyway its just an idea. And what dimitr231 ,on page 1, forgot when it came to paint colors is: yellow wich could inflict fire damage. Or maybe red does fire dmg but yellow has +10 dmg? Anyway sounds interesting i hope to test it when its done
