Operation:Desert Storm v0.1

My map takes place in the Gulf War when the U.S. Cloalition forces tried to retake Kuwait (In the Middle East) from Iraq. Your goal is to:
Normal Mode:Capture as many control points and whoever controls the most at the end of the timer wins.
Players only:Basically a Team vs Team Deathmatch, Team with most kills after the timer wins.
Zombie mode:Survive with your team with NPC's against oncoming hordes of zombies!
Many thanks to: The Hive community, no one in particular though, as i just scrolled through tonnes of tutorials and helpers.

Best played with 6 players or more.
Note:This map is protected, as was made from scratch.

Update: v0.2-New items, balances etc..
Update: v0.3-Weapon system!, command posts, balances etc..
Update: v0.3b-Weapon system improved so attack speed is back to normal, Kevlar armour added, lots more!
Update: v0.4-Music tracks added, balance issues with zombies fixed too.
Update: v0.6-(Sorry forgot to write on 0.5)-Hvy Machinegun post, new items, few balances.

My own thoughts:
[+]The map has 3 game modes.
♠Zombie , Players vs Zombies.
♠Normal , Players + computers vs players computers.
♠No computers , Players vs Players.
[+]I like some features the game has Example:
When someone is behind a barricade they get + Armour etc.

Fun to play, but would be cool to add some news weapons (like rocket launcher and this sort of thing), add an AI to the computers in the normal maps would be cool too ^^ (hero computer)

Thanks for comment titou, weps have been added (4 weps so far but more to come if you kind folks gave me more ideas). Also what do u mean by AI in normal maps? computer doesnt get buildings.(i Never used AI editor b4)

Septimus: Turret model i got from hiveworkshop (this website)-search on models. the word "turret" it should come up.:grin:

Wow, what can I say about this map.

I went in with quite an optimistic look to things, a map based around the Iraq war and Zone Control, doesn't get much better really. Well, actually, this one could get a lot better.

The maps basic premise, on normal mode at least, is to kill the other teams troops and capture points. However, this is severely screwed over by the lack of aiming, unbalanced weapons and items that could do with a lot of improvement.

The good points? Are there any? I guess it's good for messing around, but theres no real skill involved in playing the game. As far as tactics is concerned, you get behind a barracade and hope the other guy doesn't have a sniper rifle.

The balance really needs to be sorted out, as does the aiming system. If you are to ask my opinion, then I highly recommend you scrap the AI, and incorporate a system similar to Elimination Tournament, a map by 'GaDDeN'.

As for the zombie mode, the 'zacks' need Nerfing heavily, they overwhelm guards and players in around 2 minutes and you can't run off to create a base elsewhere because 'you have to stay together'. The mode needs changing, or scrapping altogether.

In order to save this map, you should add in the aforementioned targeting system, remove the AI and zombie modes, and create a 'free for all' mode in its place. There should be the 'Zone' mode (already created, called 'Normal') and a Team Deathmatch.

I think this map could be good, but it's pretty unacceptable as is. I hope that you fix it up in the following versions so that I can re-review it and give you a higher rating.

Great map I really love the zombie mode. The poster above really has a stick up his ass. I Seen post negative on pretty much ever map I clicked on. Most of the time he has no ideal what hes talking about.

Ash, he physics engine involved in Elimination Tournament uses JASS in whch I am unfamiliar with. Furthermore This reply is a negative comment which I hardly think is a "Worthy Post" as your Signature says (Though you may change it to avoid this reply). Also, The different weapons ARE balanced as they all relate to Assault Rifle, i.e. From the Assault rifle as a base I either added/took away Damage from the weapon but increased/decreased the attack speed that same amount either way. I Understand that there are several balance issues which I need to iron out, but "scrap"(ing) the different modes and seemingly the whole map as you made it look, is a overstatement.

"Unacceptable as it is", to you maybe you should add. from what I hear fromthe majority of testers it is a "Fun map" that "Has potential". This opinion is purely your own and therefore as it is a negative comment as expressed before I recommend you refrain from posting negative replies to put down aspiring mapmakers. Also, if you would be so kind as to point me in the right direction to "Give me a higher rating" I would be glad to accept any assistancee e.g. Tellin me where I can get the physics system and HOW to use it? JASS-I do not understand much about it even after reading the tutorials. Please reply:

No, I refuse the 'change my posts' in order to satisfy other peoples views. I provide honest critique, do with it what you will. And to quote myself, 'I think this map could be good, but it's pretty unacceptable as is. I hope that you fix it up in the following versions so that I can re-review it and give you a higher rating'.

Also, if you believe it to be 'negative feedback', then you're never going to get anywhere with your maps. I could praise you all you want, although it wont make the map any better.

On top of that, you made reference to the balance issues. Just because you added/decreased damage and changed the attack speed doesn't mean it's balanced. Sniper rifles, for example, shoot from long distances whereas an assault rifle is closer, and so on and so forth.

I don't believe you should scrap the whole map, but tweak things. The main problem was the fact that you change weapons to find out that it has little effect than tweaking your speed/damage, which one could do anyway with the 'single shot', 'burst fire' and 'automatic fire', which reminds me; since when did a minigun have the option for 'burst fire' and 'single shot'?

I'm sorry if I've offended, but as I've stated above, I provide honest critique and I don't aim to please people. If I believe your map isn't top notch, I'll say so. You don't need to take heed of my advice, you're the map maker after all.

Also, if you'd like help with JASS, then I suggest you look in the JASS tutorial forum.

Just to restate what I've said above for the TL;DR version:

1) I wont change my posts to make my argument sound better, thats pathetic.
2) I attempt to provide honest critique
3) I won't try an appease everybody; we'd get nowhere if that was the case
4) My main 'beef' with the map is the weapons and lack of suitable animations/sfx and balance
5) I don't put down 'aspiring mapmakers', I just don't believe that I should give everybody 5/5 when, in all honesty, their map still needs a bit of work. It'll get there in the end, I'm sure. Although, when people beta'd your map and said it was a 'fun map', have you ever wondered if they were saying that to avoid a confrontation, or upset you?

I'd be more than welcome to 'point' you 'in the right direction' and give you 'assistance' for your map, feel free to comment my visitor page by clicking on my name and selecting visitor page, and we'll leave this space to be used as intended; for reviews of your map.

Minigun can have burst fire or single-shot. This is when the gunner puls the trigger-then lets go-and pulls again. Maybe its not the weapon that does the burst firing but the gunner?

Ty, lol, dont aim to please people eh? well maybe i map isnt top notch but in the process of? DOTA didnt start out as the Top notch map it is now did it?

Lol JASS...theres a spanner in the works. Ill try read it again but im pretty sure i still wont get it.
