Nuclear Explosion

I wanted to make something new, something unseen in the terrain board ( I think it isn't ), so a idea popped into my head and I experimented and here is the result:

For me the idea is great however, you did not execute it on the level that you have proven you can reach.
To me it gives an end-of-the world feeling, but not the one that would be caused by the explosion but by the mountains in the back that are just not pleasing behind the nuclear explosion. I would try to make them a bit more visible.
To get rid of the strange feeling, I would aswell add some more buildings in circle around the nuclear explosion...Right now, especially on the left side there is not much you can see about them. Also adding a few (mainly) planks that are really flying towards the camere would be a nice touchup. I personally do believe that a nuclear bomb explosion would cause more dark and grey dust, but maybe that's just me...
However overall the idea is pretty awesome.
But you can definetally improve the execution.
Also the foreground could use some more work. the blank tiles do not fit the rocks the best yet.

Very cool, I like it.

I think there should be more flying debris
I think the collapsing buildings should be slightly closer to the foreground
I think you should get rid of the cacti or replace them with another plant or use a more high-poly cactus model

I must agree with Dr. House over here, it does look more like a tornado.
That however, is to the viewer's eye alone and is not necessarily a bad thing.
What I do disapprove of however are the mountains. They are flat and geometric, not at all natural.

I was concentrating more on the explosion itself, the background and the mountains won't be much of a problem to fix, tomorrow.
Well, mentioning it now that it looks like a tornado, your mind will play tricks on your eyes! :p

*Update*
Added Birds (Left and right (In the Air))
More flying stuff
"Fixed" the mountains (The light doodads are screwing them up, can't fix it)
More Buildings
More detailed foreground
Few Barrels
Added two soldiers, One soldiers is saying "Care for some popcorn?" and the other one: "Don't mind if I do!" :D
