I could never quite get the importing of Mini map preview right, and I cannot find a tutorial or a thread anywhere? Did I miss something?

its super easy!
once you get your 256x256.TGA pic, then you just import it, and change the filepath to
war3mapPreview
Automatically it will show up as your preview image

Only 256x256 for the preview.
u'll have to resize it with a program if you need.

Paint.net is the best free image modifier one I found. You are best to save it in .tga format
