I want to start working on a project for such a great and mod-able game(wc3), but mabye im too good at coming up with Ideas... I come up with too many and can't decide which is best. Then as I get some models working I'll decide to hop to a new project. :bored:

Do NOT take my ideas without consult, please.

#1
Battlezone: Rise of the Black Dogs.

This would be based off of an old game that is discontinued, and copyright dead, therefore, its rescources are legally usable (yay! we can be vulchers picking off dead scraps!). I'd be doing the RTS aspect of the game.

Each player starts with a Recycler and 2 tanks. The recycler is a mobile HQ, a lot like the night elf structures, it can move, but has to set down to operate, and it can only set down on geysers, which are only in certain strategic points on the map. It can produce rescource collectors, scouts, turrets, a mobile factory(works like the recycler), an armory(also, like the factory), and a constructor.
Armory: Nukes/Repairs/Ammo
Factory: all of the warring units.
Constructor: Builds all the stationary buildings

Due to the nature of the map, I cannot use already in-game models. I found that each unit would have to take less than 72 kb of data AFTER chopping the number of units down :nw:. Got a few tricks to look into and calculate, but its not lookin so good, but it would be awsome... only if  unless someone happens to know way to shrink file sizes by a huge amount...

#2
Pacific Command (WWII)
This would play out preatty much like battleships, but theres a few things I want to do.
I want to make a REALLY nice submarine gameplay system. Torpedo aiming, different dephs, and the camers HAS to follow behind (3p) ships AND subs(see the ocean from underneath!)! I was thinking of making it so each team also has a supply line, the income would come in increments and be changed depending on how many ships made it through the supply line. The map would also be much more open sea then any current battleships maps. It's still just an Idea, so I cant say for sure, but I'd like it if there could be shortkeys to move the ships, adding a more "hands on" aspect. Mabye even make it so instead of attacking you click "target ground" and the ship holds still while the guns rotate and shoot the targeted place... and NO MORE ships that can turn on a DIME! And for goodness sake, a click sound that ISN'T steam engine!

#3 Desert Combat (Desert Storm)
This would play out like a 3PS, accept instead of people, there'd be A: Tanks, B: Helos, and C: AA Tanks. Players would be able to call in missile strikes, air strikes, reinforcements, etc. I kind of love the image of driving a tank in the desert and gunning down T-72's with SABOT rounds with an independantly rotating turret... I would probolly work out a lot like the Desert Combat mod from BF2 or more BF1942 for those who have played it. (Particurally makes me think of DC_Dustbowl)

The whole purpose is im stuck on what I should work on, which one sounds the most appealling, which would be funnest to play, neatest to make, etc...

Thanks in advance

wow these ideas sounds totally cool
personally i go for no.2 i never played a sea map with 3d depth and i like to concept of having a supply line althought it might turn out to be a lag factor due to players massing supply ships. perhaps u could set a limit to it and having diffrent ships carring more gold to encorage players to upgrade.

I've even finished the Gato submarine model, honestly I'm getting excited about it. Though I might want to plot it out to see what my budget is (kb) per model.

Anyone have any Idea how I could do the ground attack thing? I know how I could make it so you use the arrow keys to move the ship and make it so theres no attack function. But how about "attack ground" where when you click a spot, the turrets turn and shoot it, but the ship remains stationary. Hehe, might end up a bit like Battlestations Midway.

BTW, the cargo ships would be computer controlled, a set amount would come in and out, but if one was sank, then the team wouldn't recieve their supplies for that ship. Hmm, I like the upgrade Idea, a player could click something on the shipyard to pay gold so there'd be more transports and more escorts?...

EDIT: ok, the MAX amount each model can take is about 150kb if I use customs for EVERY model. IMO, nothing is more ugly than a model from Wc3 being used as a WWII unit. I'm rather set on this, and the WWII theme.

Whoa, it really is a tough choice ><. But yeah, I haven't played a sea map too and it sure sounds complicated, so it would probably turn out great, so I give my vote for #2 too. Hope you make it great ^_^
