Freelancer Idea

Hi folks :crazz:. I had an idea about making a freelancer map.

1. Just like the original Freelancer the game you can be a lawbringer or pirate which will effect who your enemies are and with what bases you would be allied. Unlike in the original Freelancer the are the only two factions (Lawbringer and Pirate, I think for a map like this it would be less confusing). It would be playable up to 8 players and when you get to a certain level players that are enemies of each other can kill each other (but in order to be enemy of each other you need to be in other faction than the other player).

2. There all kinds of ships, fighters/carriers/freighters/cruisers. Each ship has it's own stats like primary weapons, basic shield, abilities like tractor beam/locust-like ability/bombard etc., hero abilities which improve the unit abilities or stats of the ship.

3. Next to this you can improve your pilot (name is Trend like in the original game) with hero abilities (see screenshots below). These hero abilities of Trend work like aura's.

4. Items would work like battleships/battletanks but adjusted to the setting of Freelancer (so futuristic weapons, mines, shields, radars etc.). Crafting would also be possible but more like creating normal weapons with junk to save money. Trading would also be possible but watch out for raiders :cwink:.

5. The world would be full of patrols and open warfare between the lawbringers and the pirates. You can also raid convoys or even destroy bases for nice loot (except for planets). Once a base is destroyed a new one will be build in it's place. There will be tradelanes and portals (can be used by both factions and tradelanes won't fire against pirates but they can disrupted to make lawbringer freighters easy pray for raiders).

6. Allied/Enemy ships will be relative tough but since they will be lots of patrol you can fly with them in the beginning. Enemies will drop junk, nanobots, shieldbots, cash and when your lucky you get a permanent item (like a minelayer or weapon).

7. I've added 3 screenshots and a very early alpha map to give a bit of an idea how it will look WIP and a tad how it will work (ignore the flying machine abilities). The still only contains the New York sector based of the original Freelancer.

So what do you guys (or girls) think of this idea?
