I only use vertex modifier for modeling.

You did those dinosaur and starwars models only with vertex modifier? And how did you the animations?

Btw, I don't like vertex modifier. Once I opened a model with it, but it wasn't similar to anything.

Milkshape for the win!

Is the Milkshape importer better and less buggy than gmax's?

So the Milkshape importer is better? Because if I import an existing model in gmax, the animations are totally different and also the bones become smaller. And, of course, if I export that model without changes, the animations are diferent than model before importing. And there are also some other bugs. Do you experience this kind of bugs also Milkshape importer/exporter?

When I said the importer does flawless geometry, I mean that it does nothing else. No skeleton, no animations.

But if model editing is your game, the Oinkertools are where it's at. Or I know a procedure for adding new models onto old skeletons with Milkshape.

Suffice to say - it is nigh-on impossible to get animations out of an MDX. Go for the Oinkertools.

Milkshape is a old...old... modeling program. i use gmax and never had trouble with it even when making warcraft 3 models. plus you got alot more textur options and creating objects and optimizing never been easer with gmax.

bye the way how is that Operation Twighlight going anyways?

gmax is overcomplicated becuase people can't find tutorails for it and it is supported by a 3rd party site called turbosquid now. and they even now are adding to gmax. But then again there all about the same i gess i just like it becuase of the easy modfiers like optimize that you can use. But i have used milkshape it was one the first 3dmodeling tools i used i remeber the first model i made was a big ball with teeth for half-life.

Yes I ONLY use vertex modifier for modeling, I can't animate, so I use base models.
Though all my more recent models I finalized with Magos' model editor. (particles, portraits, fixing bones/anims etc.)
