Colossus may be almost same as mech but could you have 2 much big ass giant things fighting?

We should restrict Collosus to organic units. I'm tired of machinery.

- Skin competition is going to be about futuristic skins (many mechanical things)
- In the last modelling competition, most of the submissions were big robots
- We already had a Mech competition

It's easier to do mechanical things than organic, since they can look quite stiff in the animations(for being robots)... I think that's why they got me bored...

D: i dont think you should rule out mechanical units. But i do agree that making a mechanical unit should not be an excuse to have stiff lame animations (case in point me :/ ) I would love to see more organic colossus units, but dont restrict something like that

Restricting would be retarded. But yeah, collosus all the way. So what if all people make robots? That just shows how little creativity they posses (most of the time). Organic units may be the way to go for this compo, but don't restrict to that.

In the morphing model compo, the contestants could do any type of morphing model, and yet we got very few organic models.
Restricting may be not the right way, but encouraging organic ones and giving penalty to mechanical in originality in some cases sounds ok.

Critters could be ANYTHING, that is a rediculous idea. I could make a giant fish model and call it a critter.
As for Happycockroach. Dont heavily penalize creativity just because its mechanical. That is bias and not professional at all. HOWEVER you can rate them down if the animations are bad. If there are stiff simple animations, then downrate them accordingly. But dont go around saying any genre or type of unit is "teh suxor i dont leik you so i rate 1/5"

That's because (in the most of the cases) WE don't decide about themes. When i said WE i mean the people who actually join the modeling contests.


Why is the theme called Colosus? The evil, mysterious boss unit. I googled colosus and I got some pictures from one comic character....

well how steam punk is the advancement of steam technology into the future, diesel punk is from around ww2 and stuff where heavy oil guzzlers develop further... or something like that. very similar to steampunk except you got fume exaust and engines and stuff instead of boliers and chimneys.

The game is brilliant. Mega64 just does that with lots of games. I hope you can tell it's a parody.

EDIT: If you don't like SOTC (I won't blame you), there are plenty of other sorts of giants/colossus/titans. As long as it's big and boss-like, then it fits for the contest.

If that Colossus theme is based off of that game, it sucks hugetime.
We just had giant robots like that in the last competition. Every input we had in this thread about colossus comes from that stupid game. I thought that Colossus was supposed to be "a giant creature that fits a boss", instead of some crap took from a video game.
IMO, if people do models to these things they should have a penalty to their originality.

Steampunk sounds pretty cool, but when I think about wc3 steampunk it reminds me of the Siege Engine and Gyrocopter...meh...

Maybe the colossus theme should be renamed to TITANS, because the theme is being too closely compared to the shadow of the colossus, while TITAN really would describe what the theme should be. just a giant boss unit with "large" animations. TITAN could include anything so long as it is huge, ie.

really so long as it is about the same size or larger than wc3 ogre model, (without having to scale it up in the editor) and as long as the animations are epic like a boss unit. It should be an awesome contest.

and happy cockroach, there was ONLY 1 "colossal" model submission in the last contest, mine, the contests before that was building,, and before that- women, and before that- chimera, the last large unit there was in a modeling contest was probably the fire elemental in MC10. So dont keep bitching about "oh there have been so many giant units in the past waa waa waa". Because unless you are thinking about a different website, the only colossal unit you could be bitching about is mine. If you have a problem with me, then quit pussy-footing around and come out with it. If you dont have a problem, then stop complaining.

Well sure, then i would be more than happy to make the poll. But how did we decide to set it up, someone (i forget who) had a good idea in saying that only modelers or people who joined the contests should vote. But i dont think that the public should be ignored.

I propose a split vote. A public vote that 50% and then a modeler's vote for 50% or something like that. Any suggestions? ideas? comments?
