Lol, Skype on DVD. It will probably be like MSN, i.e FREE.

Also, I don't get where the whole "it will crash every X seconds" thing comes from, as I've never experienced crashing issues. Probably an error on your part, not the producer.

Well, since Microsoft has the funds to so, I think they should have some plans in store for it as well.

PS: Good plans.

Well, after Microsoft Vista Micorsoft didn't do anything good... even Windows 7 couldn't redeem the ruined reputation of Microsoft as it is now... I mean seriously, I'm sure that if Microsoft will buy Skype, we ordiary people won't get nothing, but a requirement to pay monthly fee and some other uselsss junk. Kinda like with that gaming system you need to have to play Just Cause 2, GTA 4 and other similar games, which is somewhat like Steam, only worse.
Earlier Microsoft was a great company, delivering good to all, and doing so good stuff that it deserved twice as more cash than it should. Nowdays, it's an empire of evil. It copies products others have and make them more expensive and useless.

what's the use of Microsoft taking Skype? man that's really annoying, and hell it will just ruin it ):

Erm, they get at least 100 bucks a minute we use Skype. Take Facebook for example - nothing to pay, but the one who created it is now a billionaire. So does Microsoft, obviously, want to do - You use it, and they get the money.

It might get worse, but I highly doubt they'll change something vital for it - Maybe just the logo and/or layout.

Though I must admit, Vista and 7 are FLOPS. I seriously didn't want to hear about them being installed on my PC, all reverted the same day to XP. I seriously can't wait for the next Microsoft operational system - hope they make it from scratch, not like 7.

Seconded.

Well I don't think that Microsoft is THAT bad. I mean, it's meant to be simple for everyone to use, so it can't be great. Plus, some of their games are actually really good, they got something unique and I don't know what.
But yeah, Microsoft will ruin skype -.-

I don't think you'll be seeing a lot of changes to Skype once it's bought by Microsoft, because if they would add monthly fees or a one-time buying cost, then they would lose a lot of members and I don't see how that would help.
You may at least see some ads and some weird new features and it may get added to the live essentials pack.
But really, I don't see any huge changes in the future.

I agree, there probably won't be that much changes in skype,
And I really doubt that they are going to put up a montly fee for it.

Idk really, if anything the extra development money could help it

But then there's also possible downfalls and such:
-Oversimplification: Microsoft turned Windows movie maker from something bad to something even worse with Live by oversimplifying many of the features (along with general other fail)
-Using the corporate label as an excuse for a product that's simply subpar (like IE)
-Advertising
-Integration with other useless things

But honestly from my understanding Skype is fairly similar to msn chat, so for what reason would they want to buy it out (except to a: replace msn chat services or b: buy out competition)?

Do you use Internet Explorer? If you do and do not know about crashing and other issues then you're damn lucky guy.
I do on my laptop which has Windows 7. It never crashes or fucks up, nor does anything else. I have Windows 7 on my desktop computer too. No crashes at all, hell, I've never gotten a bluescreen on Windows XP nor Windows 7. You must be doing something seriously wrong to get a crash or bluescreen. Especially if you get BSOD. You can't blame Microsoft if your computer crashes after you've installed the 9001th illegal copy of some game which you've downloaded from some illegal site.

On-Topic:
I think that this will only bring good to Skype. Microsoft has a lot of money and they will be able to work a lot on Skype and probably integrate it into other services for the ultimate communication tool.

Off-Topic:
And what the fuck is wrong with Windows 7? If you guys are gamers you should rejoice (unless you have a rig to be ashamed off). Do I have to remind you of the fact that some of the best games are for WINDOWS ONLY?

The only drawback I see is that my computer starts and turns off faster, and I can no longer make my speakers sound like they're in a bathtub.

On-Topic:
I don't see anything bad in Microsoft buying Skype. They will most likely create a cross platform between Messenger ( Actually whole Windows Live ) and Skype, and hell that is good. Microsoft hasn't fucked up anything, they've brought us great products during the lifetime of Microsoft. However, without doubt Skype will be linked to Windows Live.

The only "negative" point I see coming for Skype, is the advertisement which it most likely will have soon enough. Don't worry, it won't be -as annoying- advertising as the usual ones, unless you have adwares on your computer.

Off-Topic:
If you are going to go with "Vista and 7 are comp eating OS's!" then let me tell you this; So are the other OS's, which are not created by Microsoft.
Modern OS's require quite a lot of your Computer, but that shouldn't be a problem seeing that every computer in the market is able to run them.

I use only legal soft and I try to use free soft when I can. For example - Skype. I don't want to make a Holy War with you here. I've just expressed my opinion. I'm very happy for you never had any problems with your computer :)

Love the fact all you trashing ms are probably using one of if not all their following software;
Windows xp, Windows Vista, Windows 7, MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc), MSN, Hotmail.

I use skype and ms products reguarly and doubt the latters purchase of the former will be all that noticeable, no need for us to panic...

Damn, you said that as it IS something bad...
No tragedy at all for the Skype founders. I think the guy who was holding/main guy behind Skype is now celebrating. He and his team just got a 8.5 billion dollar so, they don't need to work for the rest of their lives. ever. again. (Do the math - 8 people (let's say that's the whole crew), everyone of them having a billion dollar, 100 years of life - they get to spend 10 million dollar per year)
For the rest of us - I think Microsoft WON'T fuck it up - They paid, after all, a 8.5 billion dollar. They're gonna probably merge it with Live - and create the most awesome and/or powerful chat/talk/videochat/whatever (?) software out there.

Skype will either remain more or less the same or be dramatically improved.

This anti microsoft mythology from the early-mid 2000s is weightless. The most likely scenario is microsoft simply integrating it into many of their products. (Aka xbox 360)

As much as it is popular now adays to throw shit on microsoft, the most likely thing to happen is them simply becoming a parent to the original team without the fat and with some more experienced
employees. Some integration is the only major adjustment I see coming.

'You heard', so we could also say that 'we heard' that it's going to be released in 20999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999.

Anyways, I read in the newspapers today that skype was sold for 6.5 million dollars, not billion.
