maps dont launch editor

I have a problem on my new computer now, I have my map on my desktop and have set it's "open with" to the editor. However, double-clicking the map will launch editor but it will be a blank map (as if clicking on the editor shortcut). Why won't it open the editor and load the map?

The warcraft world editor does not have the functionality to do that, many programs are like this. Often even when a program uses a certain file type the programmer may have neglected to include the ability to open a file with the software without the process being open already.
You will have to use the File>open button.
